Adding records to database using custom connections

1 New Member
I've created a custom datagrid with a custom ado connection. Everything works perfectly except now I am trying to add a button that will add records. The way I know how to do that is with the commands

dim newdatarow as system.data.dat arow
newdatarow = <dataset.name>. <table.name>.ne wrow

I put in..

newdatarow = db_ds.tbl_movdb .newrow

I get this error

'tbl_movdb' is not a member of 'System.Data.Da taSet'.

I've been searching for example codes of adding records using custom datasets but found nothing.

If I need to paste more code please let me know and what exactly you need me to paste I have 2 forms (main and add) and a module that holds all my db and cmd settings

Thanks,

Hi, My hosting provider only allows me to use 50 connections to my MySQL database that my Web site will use. I don't know what this 50 connections means exactly. Does this mean that only 50 visitors to my Web site can access my database through my Web site at one time? Or does this mean that in my code I can only use 50 connections? and like

Trying to figure out the technique which should be used to add rows to a datagrid. I am thinking that I would want an "Add" button on the footer, but I am not quite sure how to do that. Is that the best method? Do you have a sample of how to do this?

Hallo! I'm working with C# .NET 2.0, implementing Client/Server Applications which are connecting via Network to SQL-Server or Oracle Databases. To stay independent from the underlaying Database I use System.Data.Common.DBConnection and .DBCommand. How can I keep aware from connection losses (network not availeable, db-server not available...)? Are there any strategies to detect this broken connections, and how can I

I have an odd business requirement and I think that the implementation is not correct in the terms of OOP development. Any help on the concepts would be very appreciated! We currently have a custom Page object which is derived from the base Page object. We also have custom controls that derive from a base class that performs custom drawing and inherits from our own IOurControl interface. There is also a special caching layer in the mix...

I am adding a new record to a table via a dataset/adapter. I have got the following to work for me but I am wondering if there is a better way to do this. I am having to have something in my DS before I can add records, since DS does not exist. I'd rather not have a SELECT since I really don't need any records in my dataset that I will be adding a new record to. Dim dsNewRow As DataRow

I'm running Access 2000 with a SQL 7 back end, using ODBC linked tables in an MDB file. The db is used by about 30 users on a LAN, and an additional 10 or so on a WAN. Recently, one of the WAN users complained of intermittently not being able to find certain customers in the customers table (contains around 40,000 records). There are specific "problem records" of customers that can't be found, and they all start with the letter "F" (the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
