How to check proxy setting?

1 New Member
Hi, I've browsed through several sites I've found using google and have experimented with the code I have found, but I am still not able to accurately check if the proxy setting is set on my IE browser.

The code I have found relates to the bypass proxy for x addresses setting, but I am wanting to be able to check the overall proxy setting 'Use a proxy server for your LAN'.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Michael.

Hi, I have a program that runs on multiple client pc's. Occasionally one or more of those pc's use VPN to connect to another corporate network. When using VPN they need to set proxy server in Internet Explorer connection settings (proxy:8080). However, as soon as this setting is enabled, the remoting program running on their pc stops communicating with the server it sends data to. I've disabled proxy setting on the affected pc, rebooted...

Hi guys, I created a ASP page that 1. users can run when WinSock proxy are using (ie's one is unchecked) 2. users can't run when WinSock proxy are using (ie's one is checked) 3. users can't run when WinSock proxy are not using (ie's one is checked) 4. users can't run when WinSock proxy are not using (ie's one is unchecked) So, what is the difference between winsock proxy client and the proxy setting in browser (IE)?

I gave a VB.NET client which comsumes a webservices. The VB.Net client is behind a proxy server. The problem is when the VB.NET client i behind a proxy is goes very slow. It does get response from the webservice but it comsumes very much time (60-90 seconds). When the client is not behind the proxy server then everything runs smooth. So my question how can I "workaround" this extra timedelay when the app is behind av proxy? Is there some...

Appologies if this has already been asked, but after scanning the web and this news group I could find no decent solution. We have a windows App that calls a webservice, using this bit of basic code. Dim objPreReq As PDCPreReq.PreReqs Dim objProxy As System.Net.WebProxy = System.Net.WebProxy.GetDefaultProxy objProxy.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials

Hello All, I am working on a desktop application using C#. The application connects to a remote webservice to update and retrieve data from a database. I also have a settings Tab in the application UI that allows the user to enter the proxy server information if needed. When the user selects the "Use Proxy" Checkbox in the settings tab, I ask them to provide the server address and port number and also the login information is...

Hi, We have .NET 1.1 WinForms apps accessing webservices through proxy servers in various companies using different proxy server setups. Our WinForms app is currently configurable to either use the default settings from IE, or to allow an explicit proxy server uri to be specified - using this information we set the .Proxy on the webservice proxy object to a WebProxy object that we create using 'new...

I wrote a VS 2005 C# express programme that accesses a web service. It works fine when there's a direct connection to the internet, but on two different PCs with internet access via a proxy, I get this exception: System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 407: Proxy Authentication Required. at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.ReadResponse(SoapClientMessage message, WebResponse response, Stream...

Hi all, I have an asp.net 2.0 website that accesses a locally hosted web service. This works fine on servers that are connected to our network. However, I am having a problem with a laptop server that I have built. The code that tries to connect to the web service breaks if the laptop is not within our network. Further debugging has revealed that this is due to a proxy server issue. Our domain sets the proxy server via GPO for all...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
