networking with visual basic 5 question

2 New Member
Do I have to install Visual basic on the remote terminals as I did on the server?
I have an visual basic 5 application running fine on my client's server and he is now networked. He wants to run the visual basic applicaton that runs on his server on the remote terminals. (he has two networked to his server) My question is do I now have to install visual basic on the two terminals also?

Thank you in advance to anyone who can answer this for me,

Frank Hanretty

Hello, I'm in the design stage of an application that will consist of two or more processes that will be either on different computers in a network or on the same computer and will have to communicate with each other. I don't have much experience with networking, inter-process communication or client-server architectures, and I'm wondering what is the best way to do it. These are the basic functions that need to be: 1. Some processes will...

Hi, I'm a student learning TCP/IP networking at University. Although I understand all about TCP/IP Networking in Java I am expected to understand the basics of C with regard to these programs as all the examples in my course notes and Exams refer to C. Can someone please point me in the right direction to where I might find answers on the web explaining C code involved with TCP/IP networking and what they mean. These are quite basic I'm...

I've been all over the net with this question, I hope I've finally found a group where I can ask about Visual Basic 2005. I'm at uni and we're working with Visual Basic 2005. I have some books, - Programming Visual Basic by Balena (MS Press) and - Visual Basic 2005 by Willis (WROX), but they don't go into the forms design aspects and describing the various controls at all. What bookscan I get that will cover that?

I would like to know how I can distribute the application that I create with Visual C++ express edition. I checked the menu options to find a deploy option similar to the one found on the Visual Basic Express Edition but could not find one. I have even searched the help files and could not find anything useful for me. I want to simply package my application so that I may install it on another computer.

Hi there My compay has a number of Visual Basic 6 applications which are front endeed onto either SQL Server or Microsoft Access databases. Now we are in process of planning to re-write these applications into Visual Basic.Net. My managers main thought is that Visual Basic 6 is (or has!) stopped being supported by Microsoft.

I've come from the VB 6.0 world where, when I wanted to make a client/server applet, I'd use the built-in Winsock ActiveX control. Now I'm trying to move on to Visual Basic .Net (if that is, indeed, what comes with Visual Studio 2005). I've noticed that there isn't a corresponding Winsock-like control for creating network applets that use non-standard TCP/IP-based protocols (such as HTTP or FTP). So my question is simply how do I create...

I'm currently writing a program and I've got in mind to keep it as portable as possible. In particular I want it to run on Linux and Windows, but I'm also keeping an open mind to any machine that has a screen and is capable of Ethernet networking. The program requires three things that aren't available in the C Standard: 1) Coloured text (for a console application) 2) Raw socket networking 3) Multithreading For number 1, I've already...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
