Backup a access database

Hello,

I try to make a backup of a access database.
To make it, I make a Filecopy, but some of my custommers have a problem :
They work at 2 or 3 on the database, but when a user want to make a backup
and another one is working on the database (exclusively locked), the backup
is bad : when a user want to use the backup, he has the message telling
that the database is locked by another user.
Is there something to force the users out of the database before making a
backup or (better) a way to backup the database without the locked flag?

Thank you
Marc Allard

Hi, I hope this question isn't too far off topic....I'm almost at my wits end trying to figure this out. I have a Mysql database and I wish to automate the backup of the database because I don't wish to rely on the web host doing so. I am using the "dbsender.php" script, which is written for this exact purpose (available at hotscripts.com). If I execute the script via my browser, the database is emailed to me in a 'gzip' format, which...

Hi, Appreciated anyone who can help us with our problem. Our backup job for ROUTT database has been failing for the last 4 days. It was working fine for almost a year now. The only thing happened few days before the problem started is the addition of more memory to the server because we've been getting the low virtual memory error. There are two databases in this server so we have two backup jobs everyday. The other backup job runs...

Can anyone recommend backup procedures for a SQL Server/MSDE product? We have upgraded our program from Access to SQL & before we could just tell our customers what .mdb files to include on their backup script. Now with SQL, the BACKUP/RESTORE SQL commands work as backups, but would involve a separate process for our customers to execute, when what they know right know is to copy the .mdb files. Is there a way they can backup the...

I'd like a button on my main form to backup the database. How can I call up the Windows folder browser to prompt me for a filename and type (*.mdb) and folder to save in? I looked in my book and didn't see anything like that. I only want to backup the data tables in the back-end database. Is there some standard set of code to do this? Thanks, Rich Hollenbeck

How do, For backing up my database(Access 2000), i am trying to just back up the tables and their data, as this will save on space and allow for importing back into the actual database. I want the data copied into a dated backup database so a specific restore can be performed and old backups arent lost. The vb code i have makes a new blank database and copies the data into tables through docmd.runSQL. Both aspects of the code work fine; the...

Well, I think I've described what I want to do in the title here. In the database, I have two main tables that contain the main data for the database. One for group expenditures, another for application details. I have a query for each of them to copy all the contents of the table into a new table, then delete all the data from the main table. I need to do this becasue once a year the data needs to be removed, ready for putting in new data. I...

Hey everybody. While running a Query, Access crashed (The 'Send Error Report' window came up) I clicked the option to have access repair and reopen my database. Now in the database folder, I notice two documents. One is the original file name, and the second is the original file name_Backup. I assume Access made this backup while it was repairing my database, but the question is: The original file has now shrunk in size to about 160megs...

With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
