Open Office can make PDFs, so I don't think you
need any Adobe libraries. I don't know whether
there's code or a control for VB.

You can get the specification for making a PDF directly from Adobe or from
one of my favorite websites:
http://www.wotsit.org/

Click the link called Text Files/Documents. I believe the 2nd page of
results has a zipped version of the file specification. Adobe publishes it
to allow you to create PDF files directly, without any code/controls/tools
from them.

However, do it this way isn't practical for most VB programmers, buying a
third party control is better. I have read that the following company
produces a good control:
http://www.amyuni.com/en/products/index.php

But I have no personal experience with their control.

Although they may not be exactly what you are after, I have had good
experience with these two products:
1. Active Reports, a control that creates all sorts of printed output,
and can export PDF files. Good for database reports and freestyle as
well. However it is expensive now.
2. pdfFactory, a $50 program that installs on a computer as a printer,
and allows you to capture anything you can print as a PDF file. Don't
know how I got along without it. www.fineprint.com is their site.

Try http://www.pdf995.com/
This is a printer driver so this gives you PDF capabilities in any of
your Windows software. You can use the printer object to create your
report just as if you were going to any Windows color printer.

I automatically generate several PDF a night from a DB I manage. Below is a snippet of code that just tweakes the registry settings to store path and filename then prints the PDF. Typically a report is compiled of multiple sites and I was wondering if there is a way to add bookmarks to the PDF's. I'm also familiar with some visual basic methods to merge single PDF's into one. But I dont know how, if possible, to add bookmarks. Can...

My VB Application opens an Access Report and has an option to generate the report in PDF once the report is closed. This is accomplished by: - Switching over to the Acrobat Printer (i.e. PDFWriter) from the default printer. - Setting a string type sub key "PDFFilename" in the registry "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat PDFWriter" to store the PDF in a user selected directory with a filename that's determined by VB codes.

Like many before me, I am tearing my hair out trying to get Acrobat 6.0 to work with VBA. I am getting close, and the error I am getting now seems like it should be easy to surmount. So why am I stumped?! ;) This code is in the middle of a large module in an ADP that takes web data and ports it to an MS Word form that is dynamically generated based on the data. Near the end, the Word doc needs to print to PDF and save both the Word...

I found code online which uses Windows API's to save Access reports to pdf format files. I'm using the full version of Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0. The problem is that regardless of what I put in the code as a filename it automatically saves the report based on the report name instead of the string passed to the registry key. The code is as follows: '****************************************************************** 'Setting value...

I used to be able to create PDFs, automatically save them to a file, and mail them out to people. This was on Access 97 with Windows NT. We've changed to Windows XP and Access 2003. Doesn't work anymore. Part of the problem is that the users have no access to the registry and can only save files on the C:\ drive to their My Documents folder. I found this code on the web, but it doesn't work either. The files continue to print out of my...

Using VS 2003... Is there a way to create a tif file on the fly to be faxed? I need a simply cover page (simple logo, to/from, etc.) and am currently doing it in text only, but that doesn't look that great. I figure with tif I could add a graphic, etc. A static pre-made tif file won't work, becuase I need to insert some variable information. Any ideas?

Hi, I use Adobe Acrobat to read tekst from PDF files. After that the file has been read, I move the file in a folder (using the date I got from the text I got from Acrobat). Now here is my problem. When I want to move the file, I get an error stating: System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file "x:\VF\2006-01\CVF-06000007.pdf" because it is being used by another process.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
