Hello!
I am using Crystal Reports 9 (under Win2000 with SP3/SP4 - no
difference) and try to create some reports from vb6. Everything works
fine..., unless I install the centura runtime (deploy20.exe).
After the installation some (there is no telling which) integers are
missing in the report. When debugging my visual basic sources
(SetPrivateData) everything is fine and all the integers are filled
with the proper values. (I am using ttx...

Hi everyone,
I have created an App that embedds the python interpreter and I am
now in the process of creating an installer. I am currently linking
python24.lib, but it is only 184k and I suspect that it imports other
dlls... I am also using numarray. Does anyone have any experiences in
packaging python with an application in a single installer ? Has that
been done before ?

I am having issues with the packaging wizard in Access Developers
Edition XP. Here is the deal.
The program uses a system file. There are three total databases (front
end, common data, and user data). The front end is in a parent
directory with each of the otehr two in their own directory underneath
that. I am generating a run time distribution...

This one seems bizarre!
We have a database consisting of a main table and 12 - 15 "sub" tables,
which are connected via cascading relationships. The database performs
many complex calculations and displays the results in both forms and
reports. In the process of developing the database we "entered" 12
sample clients. Before packaging the database we remove the sample
clients by deleting them from the main table, which cascades the...

Hi
I want to package my C# winforms app, to be deployed with MSDE, as easily as
possible for the end user.
I want to create an MSI or Installshield (prefer MSI), to setup my C# app,
together with MSDE (if not already installed), and the MSDE application DB.
How can I detect if MSDE is already installed??
Has anyone does this?? How??

I have a performance question with regards to packaging assemblies and
referencing them.
First lets say you have created the following assemblies:
Company.Framework.dll
Company.Framework.IO.dll
Company.Framework.Xml.dll
Company.Framework.Data.dll
Company.Framework.Web.dll

I've been through this kind of thing a few times in the past and
received excellent advice here on clpy about how to deal with specific
technical aspects (e.g. how to use setuptools, InnoSetup, etc).
I'm now wondering where this type of thing is best addressed in more
general terms. What I usually see happening, in projects I've worked
on and in others, is that developers get the code working on their own
computers, using source control...

I am looking for an application that will wrap my .Net application (and any
needed .Net parts) into a single exe.
I know of Thinstall ($4,000 for application and per copy fees for your exes)
and of Xenocode (~$1,500 plus ~ $12 per copy of your exe). But, I'd like
something that is actually affordable for a hobbyist programmer.
This capability (Thinstall's being able to wrap a .Net app and ship it as a
single exe) would be a FANTASTIC...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.

Adolph will...
