Hi,
I'm developing an ASP.NET web app and i'm retrieving some data from xml
files.
My question is, if an xml file is going to be accessed a page is loaded,
should i:
1. use an in-memory XmlDocument (created each time the page is accessed); or
2. use a forward-only XmlTextReader object (created each time the pages is
accessed).

We have a web server that runs on Windows 2000/IIS 5. We have multiple site
of web application on the web server. Each site has it own assembly versions
of ASP.Net application. They are all developed with ASP.Net 1.0. When we
test a site of the application, it sometimes pops up stating that a file is
locked another process and can not be accessed. I try to stop the ASPNET_WP
process via task manager on the web server, the service will start...

Hi All,
We have a gallery component that allows us to upload images.
An Edit Image Entry user control allows the user to update an image, by
replacing the current one.
Oddly, after replacing an image, if the user tries to replace again
within a few seconds - he gets the following error message:
The process cannot access the file "...X.gif" because it is being used

I'd like to create a small client app that sits on a user's computer and
monitors their FTP activity to one certain server. The client app will
update a server app that then distributes this information to all client
apps. This means if 5 people are using the client app and are accessing the
server via FTP, they will see which files are being accessed by others that
are also using FTP.
Consider each client will be using their own FTP...

We have a recurring problem where a (long-running) service throws an
exception while trying to access a file. The problem is that this is
very rare (happens once every week and without warning) but does happen
time to time. We are trying ways to find which other process is holding
on to the file or even if any other thread from our process is holding
on to the file at the specific time that the problem occurs.
So, I am trying to...

Hi,
Im having a few issues with finding exactly which program may be
accessing a certain file. Lets say I need to replace a DLL with a
newer version, but I need to make sure its not being accessed.
Finding out if its in use isnt a problem, but I need to find out
exactly which process is using it so I can ask the user if they would
like to end that process to replace the file or not.

I need to be able to monitor a file and identify which processes have
accessed them. Kind of like Windows Filemon does. The FileSystemWatcher
doesn't seem to provide this information, and I can't get this information
from System.GetProcesses. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
Thanks

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
