Read from USB infrared receiver

I want to know how I would go about reading signals from a Microsoft
USB infrared receiver I have. It is a product designed for the Media
Center Edition of Windows, but I am pretty sure it can read any
infrared signals. Here's the product page:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mo...s.aspx?pid=065

Ideally, I would start by reading the signals into a string and just
messagebox them. I don't know if I should be using a third party
library or something.

This would get me started.
