Hi All,
I'm still fighting this ADO.net situation. Seems like all examples are
a mixture of Classic ADO, ADO.net 1.1, ADO.net 2.0 and its all
confusing me. I'm using VB.net 2005 and ADO.net 2.0. Currrently
using Access as the database but will be upgrading to MSDE or SQL
Server in the future.
Here's the situation:
I have an Access database that has several tables. Each day
transactions are loaded into a table (BIData). I have a status field
in that record (0 if not processed, 1 if processed). I want to select
un-processed records from the BIData table, update another table
(PurOrd) with data in the BIData table, and finally update the status
field in the BIData table. Simple, eh! Well not for me.
I want to use Oledb because if I change to SQL server I understand
that it requires only minor changes to the connection, and commands,
etc.
I have not bound the data to a datagrid since I don't have the need to
see the data, but on second thought maybe an invisible grid might give
me control of the rows that I seem to lack.
In the past I used recordsets. What do I use now?
Any Books or Internet examples in VB.net 2005/ADO.net 2.0 that
describe at this level?
What's the best way to accomplish this task? Coding examples welcome!
Thanks,
Hexman
