I'm trying to create an MSI in VS.NET that will check for installed Office
System components - so my MDE will only install if requirements are met.
I'm thinking about using VBScript to inspect Registry keys/values. Anyone
travel this road before? Other suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Hi -
I have developed a .NET WinForms application and will be looking to write an
installer shortly. I'm a bit concerned regarding security.
If the application is installed to the local harddisk, then I don't see a
problem as that will inherit full trust; but if the user installs the
application to a network drive then I envisage that the...

I am trying to release 2 applications based on the framework.
A sound player and an Unicode tag editor.
Both can be installed an run correctly in my system.
I don't know if they can be installed in computers without the Visual
studio.

Installing Merge Modules from C# Windows Form Application (not using a setup
and deployment project)
Hi,
Currently, we have an InstallShield project that creates a setup.exe that
only installs 20 or so merge modules. It does nothing else. We then have
our own custom, C# Windows Form application that installs our software
applications. ...

I'm looking for any recommendations of tools or processes to develop an
install that clients can run to install a web application on they're system.
The web application is pretty simple; the only thing that might need to be
changed in the web.config is the DNS name of the database.

An application I wrote installs ok on W98 and XP. When installed it asks for
Framework 1.1. When the application is installed on Vista and Framework 1.1
is made available, the application installs ok but errors out as soon as the
icon is clicked to start up the application. The application was developed
using Visual Studio 2003. Converting the...

I am looking for an application that will wrap my .Net application (and any
needed .Net parts) into a single exe.
I know of Thinstall ($4,000 for application and per copy fees for your exes)
and of Xenocode (~$1,500 plus ~ $12 per copy of your exe). But, I'd like
something that is actually affordable for a hobbyist programmer.
This...

Does anyone have a good suggestion?
I am currently using Eclipse Europa with the C-Development Toolkit (plus
gnu-toolchain under cygwin) and the Widestudio Native Application
Builder plugin.
While I am surprised I actually got this configured and running, it has
some things that I do not like too much - especially a couple of bugs
(build...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
