I just changed my Access 2002 database to a SQL Server ADP project. I
had a form where the user entered a value into a text box and when a
command button on the form was clicked a Report was opened. The reports
record source is a query. The query uses the value from the form text
box to restrict the query.
Table name = EggsTable
one of the columns in the table is named: EggColor
Form name = EggColorForm
Form text box name = ColorTextBox

Hi All,
Does anyone know of a place where a corrupted mdb(front-end) can be
sent and have that place be able to tell me what got corrupted within
the db?
Here's the issue;
All pc's are WindowsNT on a Novell network using Office97 Pro. I built
a db application(work distribution and log app) which has been running
in this environment for more than a year, its a front-end/back-end
setup using UNC for its pathing, both ends get compacted...

Hello,
We are in the process of examining our current main application. We have to
do some major changes and, in the process, are questionning/validating the
use of MS Access as front-end. The application is relatively big: around 200
tables, 200 forms and sub-forms, 150 queries and 150 repports, 5GB of data
(SQL Server 2000), 40 users.
I'm wondering what are the disadvantages of using Access as front-end? Other
that it's not...

Hi,
I manage and develop an Access 2003/SQL 2000 based system for a real
estate company. It's quite extensive and has a level of Windows/Office
integration.
My question is this: what are the pros and cons of ditching Access in
favour of a web based front end?
Thanks,

I have code in my front end that opens a form for backing up the front end.
I'll give a brief description of what the form does:
1) When the backup form opens, it closes all open forms except for three
hidden forms and the backup form itself.
2) It automatically creates a backup name for the front end and displays the
folder where it will be backed up.
3) The user clicks the backup button and the following code executes:

&/or
2 Do you know how to make a DSN-less pass-through query work from

One of my users had a corrupt front end that wouldn't open.
My app is launched using a launching application (logon app). The logon app
has a button for downloading a "fresh" copy of the front end from the server
to the user's PC. I thought that this was a good idea since Access seems
susceptible to corruption.
I told the user to open the logon form and click the "Download" button, which
would then replace the corrupt front end on his...

RE: Access 2003
My application has been split and the front end runs on client PCs with the
back end on a LAN file server. Also I have an updater routine that copies
an updated client from the LAN file server to the client PCs when needed. I
keep the client front end on the LAN server for distribution purposes. The
problem is that occasionally, user's get confused and go to the LAN file
server and run the application from the front end...

Hi all,
I do not have the idea how could I get the backend error/exception message into forms6i application?
I used RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR(error_number, error_text) in DB table's trigger, I want the message in my front-end. However, I am getting the error that Oracle unable to insert and on pressing shift + F1 I am getting the message that I wrote in DB. But I want it as an alert.
and can I give yes-no type alert there?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
