I learned from http://www.jorendorff.com/articles/unicode/python.html that
one can specify a unicode character by u'\N {name of the character}'.
Is there any method that I do the reverse of this process? For example,
when
I have a unicode character '£', uc.method() should return the character name
'POUND SIGN' in str format.

i need help urgently. I´m having a problem with the unicode character 0x2a2b29.
I´m working with an xml document and when i try to read it i have this error message
org.xml.sax.SAXException: Stopping after fatal error: An invalid XML character (
Unicode: 0x2a2b29) was found in the element content of the document.
if i try to find this character in the text i don´t find nothing

I'm trying to reproduce the capabilities in both Notepad and Excel, whereby
a Unicode text file with Unicode characters can be converted to ANSI, while
still preserving the unicode characters within.
Specifically, I'm using the unicode character &x2022, which is a largish
bullet.

Is there a way to get the convert a unicode character such as chinese
characters to byes? Everytime when I use Convert.toByte I will always get a
System.OverflowException "Value was either too big ot too small". Is it
because unicode characters require 16 bits? In that case how to I convert
the character to byes?

Hello, I am trying to print a unicode character that's in Japanese. In my
ASP.NET app (C#) I just set a char to that unicode character and use a
response.write(). The char prints, but it is just a square.
I set the culture of the .aspx page to japanese, and even though my browser
already prints asian characters, I added the Japanese to it also. My web
config has the utf-8 line in it. What should I do?
