I am using Perl to parse a text file and output to another file. The text file has data on Unix virtual memory (vmstat) and I want to delete lines that I don't want and output lines that I want to a new file. The script I have is giving me blank lines in the new file. #!/usr/local/bin/perl #program to read systemdata file #and write to systemstats file # #

I have seven huge fixed width text file that I need to import to Access. They contain headers, subtotals, etc. that are not needed. There is also some corrupt data that we know about and can correct once the data is in Access (or during the import process itself). Furthermore, the text files are poorly set up, such that some records may be "shifted" over a few characters, and therefore the fixed width nature of the file is corrupted. ...

I need to create a text file that has the data from the 10 tables in the database. The number of fields in the tables exceeds 255 and so I cannot make a new table with all the fields and then export it into a text file. Is there any s/w out there I could use? I am not much of a programmer but I heard I could use VBA to get this done. Any help with the code will be appreciated. Thanks

Hi I need to read in a large set of text files (9GB+ each) into a database table based on fixed width lengths. There are several ways to complete this, but I am wondering if anyone has insight into the FASTEST way to read in the data and chop it up ahead of posting it into the DB. So far, things work, but they are far slower than expected.

I have a need to input a large tab delimited text file, which I will parse to check it has the expected columns, before allowing the user to submit it to the database. The user may paste the file into a textbox, or upload it (haven't decided yet). The problem I have is that the text file consists of around 3000 lines, and I want to display the formatted columns to the user before submitting it to the database (perhaps allowing them to...

Greetings! I am still new to Python, sorry! I have been searching through many posts on this subject and have attempted to TRY, but I feel really lost. So, any detailed guidance would be oh-so helpful for my learning at this point! So, I am working with GIS data using ESRI software. I spatially select data from numerous sources and write it to a > delimited text file. I then manually bring that file into Excel, to then pass onto users...

Hi, This code is in Perl (just a trial, not tested) to parse a text file and output to another file. It is used to delete lines that are not required and output lines that the user wants, to a new file. The problems are: 1 This script is giving blank lines in the new file. 2 I have to remove a whole delimitter (#if FOR_LAB) from the text file. 3.The tool should be able to parse the file, and remove FOR_LAB’ed code, with out affecting the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
