VB.NET Calling Webservice from Winforms ASYNC

3 New Member
Mornign All,

I have a webservice setup and need to call this asyncronously from a winform app.

I have added the reference to the winform

Then

Dim web_Print as New Apps002.Service

However when I then investigate web_print, I would expect

web_Print.Begin Print
web_Print.Print
web_Print.EndPr int

However I am getting

Web_Print.Print
Web_Print.Print Async

If I use Web_Print.Print Async the call is not asyncronous? If I call the webservice from a webforms app the declerations are correct?

Any ideas?

Regards

Hi everyone! I'm hoping that someone can help me out. I have a webservice written in vb.net. This service uses the SoapHeader to secure the webservice to users that give a username and password. I am a newbie to ASP.NET and webservices. I have a webservice that is calling a C# dll. This dll then calls methods in a VB COM+ component. The COM+ component is not instantiating correctly. The return value of the called function is an ADO recordset. Looking at the value of the variable in the watch window, it is undeclared. So, the function is not completing. I ran this code from a straight WinForms application and it worked fine. ...

We are attempting to make a request to a web service (we will refer to it as XXXServices) hosted on a Web Logic server from a C# SOAP client. The server responds with a 401 Unauthorized error (that appears in plain text), and causes the client to crash. This C# code has been deployed both as an ASP.NET application and a WinForms app, each of which produced the same result. Further, moving the clients from a Windows XP machine to Windows...

Hi, I'm trying to call a webservice asynchronous and works. But if I enter a wrong proxy webservice.Proxy = new WebProxy("b"); I won't get a callback with an async call like webservice.addEntryAsync(entry, null); (of cource registered previously with webservice.addTrackerEntryCompleted += ).

Hi. I've a single solution with many projects. I'm using VS2003 and framework 1.1 1. Data project - contains UserData class, inheriting from DataSet, and setting up constants and columns like those found in the Duwamish 7 sample 2. WebServices project - wraps up business logic 3. C# winforms consumer connecting to the WebServices. This project has the data project as a reference.

Hi, From reading various articles on scalability issues, I understand that there is only a finite number of ASP.NET worker threads and any long running task within ASP.NET should be fired off on a seperate thread using an async call. All the articles I can find are either on implementing an async webpage, or calling an async webservice. I can not however find any article on how to make calls within a webservice asynchronous. Consider...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
