save VB form at runtime

14 New Member
I am having trouble making a save function that works at runtime. Ideally it should save the progress made on the form and allow for the user to open it up and continue their work.

Any ideas on how to save the form to be reused? I have tried to save as a .vbp file and .exe but have had no luck.

Thanks in advance.

there is probably a better way but depending on the size / complexity of your form what about using 'my.settings' and updating the values when you change fields or close the form?

I thought this would be easy but I don't see it. I have an app that builds a coverage map based on the status of the various towers in the network. Tooltip controls are added as I go. I would like to export the built form to a file so it can be opened by access. Sounds easy and MSDN help described the Object.SaveAs method for VB extensibility to do just this - trouble is it doesn't work.

I am clueless of why it is happening. I tried to save the image of the form & also the picturebox, but always, i see a blank file saved. hi guys (and girls), Does anyone know if there is a way to save the position of a form at runtime. I am developing a small access application and the forms keep reappearing in the preset position not where the users move them to. I know you can change the centre property, move the form and then save it and it will reopen in that position, but I would like to allow the users to choose the locations of their forms. Is there a way of coding...

Hi I know how to use the bitmap and graphics objects to create bitmaps and write text on them with the drawString method. I now need to create some BMPs of word or RTF docs. What would be the best approach here as I need to maintain most if not all of the formatting. The docs will be about 3 paragraphs each. Should I save the docs to rtf, then parse the rtf into the draw string method? There has to be an easier way.

I found a post about this, and it had some C# code that wouldn't convert, and when I finally got it converted it didn't work in .NET 1.1. So I made a few changes to the converted VB version and now it works perfect, however I could find a post replay on that form, so I thought I'd put it here for anyone else searching. Hi - I've got an interesting one here: I've got an mdb file that some users run in Access 2003 and some in 2007. I have a Localize function that is called on the open of each form to set the captions and formatting to match the user's locale. One thing that I commonly do is set the Format property of text boxes that display date/time values to match the user's date/time preferences (i.e. m/d/yy or d/m/yy). It is not always an option for me...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
