Hello,
I'm trying to print the content of a RichTextBox from my VB 6 app.
What I want is that the CommonDialog shows up, the user selects a
printer and the content of the RichTextBox prints to the selected
printer. I'm not concerned about the text format.
What I tried is something like this
CommonDialog1.ShowPrinter

I'm working on a cross-platform Python program that prints to a receipt
printer. The code is simple, I just do something like this:
printer = file('/dev/lp0','w') # on Win32, change to 'lpt1'
p.write("whatever")
p.close()
I would like to gracefully handle situations such as when the paper is out
or the printer is powered off. Right now the program just hangs.

In my application I need to give the user the ability to print duplex if the
selected printer supports duplex printing. Many of the printer options do
not make much sense in my application, and many of the settings in the common
printer dialog would have a negative impact on my printing process. To
handle this strict printing constraint on which my application imposes I do
not want to show the common print dialog. I want to be able to...

Does anybody know how to write data directly to the LPT port from MSAccess.
Now I use
"Open PrtPort For Append Access Write As IntFilenum" then
"Print $IntFilenum, ..........."
but doesn't work well. LPT port does not initialize and POS printer print
weird characters.
When user print blank page from notepade, on this time, printing from
MSAccess works fine until PC is restarted.

I would like to allow users to set, as an application default, a
specific printer to send reports to. I don't know how to bring up
a list of valid print devices in A97, nor do I know how to reference
any one of them that might be selected.
For instance, if I click Start, Control Panel, Printers and Faxes on
a PC running XP and I see the following:
HP Laser Jet 4200 PCL 6
HP Laser Jet 4200 PCL 5e
HP Laser Jet III

Hi Gang,
I've created a text-based file format. Once I've generated the text to save
the file is as it should be in the debug window. However once I write it to
a file a " is added to the beginning and a ", to the end. Can somebody
explain why? I'm using VB2003.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Christian Blackburn

I have downloaded the code described in Microsoft article Q154078. I
am trying to send raw ZPL (zebra barcode printer) code from Microsoft
access. It works just fine if I hard code the actual data in the
string being sent to the printer. However, if I prompt the user for
data or if I insert data from a particular record/field in a form
Access crashes/closes on its own.
I have included the code below, if anyone has any suggestions,...

Hello all,
I'm a longtime programmer (embedded with a smattering of desktop stuff
as well) who knows very little about web programming. Right now I am
developing the prototype of a multi-user application in MSVC++, but I
think it would make more sense to redo the app as a web application
(which I know almost nothing about, remember). From poking around I
see that PHP is a fairly mainstream candidate for me to consider.
Now, I will...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
