I know this topic has been discussed before but I couldn't find any
thread more recent than about 18 months and was interested in what
conclusions people had come to recently.
Invariably 3 advantages of XML config files are promoted;
1. The .NET framework provides built-in support for reading
application configuration data from .config files very easily
2. Using these files makes it possible to deploy an application using

Please forgive me if this question is not clear. I am not a .Net developer,
I am just trying to get a .Net app to work with Citrix.
I have a .Net app that runs on Terminal Services 2003 with Citrix
Presentation Server 3.0. This app has a .config file that I am told MUST be
in the same directory as the .exe. Is this true? Is there any way to move
the .config file?

I use web.config files in many directories, and my aspx files can access the
AppSettings.
If I have a subdirectory Foo with an aspx, and Foo has a local web.config
that defines an AppSetting. My aspx in the Foo directory can properly
access this local AppSetting. I understand that web.config files are
cumulative as you go deep into the directory structure.
Here is my situation.
I have an aspx in the root of my application. I have a...

Using Asp.NET 1.1, and C#.
I have a directory for the website, and a directory under it named Secure.
I have a web.config in each of the above directories. The web.config in the
Secure directory contains the connection string information for the database.
How can I use ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings to show the path of the
Secure directory when getting the connection string?

I built a VB.net application that makes use of a machine level DB
connection string setting, and a user level starting location setting.
The machine level setting and the default user based setting is of
course stored in the app.exe.config file located in the same directory
as the exe. Upon closing the form, I save the user setting which then
creates a user.config file in the appdata directory in my profile.
This is all well and good....

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
