Where are the Microsoft reps?

cj
I'm a MSDN subscriber and a Microsoft rep used to answer my questions
here in about 24 hours. But the last time I know someone from Microsoft
answered a question I posted here was on 4/21 when Steven Cheng answered
a question. Has something gone wrong with my subscription. As far as I
can see it's active.

Might be a good time to call MSDN customer support.

Make certain you post using the email address you used when subscribing. Otherwise, they won't know
you from Adam.

I can't seem to find the MSDN customer service numbers, but here is
the managed newsgroup support page (I think)

"got that number handy" was a kind of rhetorical question anyway. I
doubt anyone gets those numbers. This MSDN stuff seems overly
difficult. My company has a subscription that covers all of us and I
didn't set it up. When I finally found where to manage my account it
kept logging me in as cj2 instead of cj. I don't know why. Anyway
me.nospam.nospa m was me er,,,cj. I was just making sure I knew where
that was set in my newsgroup reader with a test message and forgot to
change it back when posting to you.

Anyway, I'm now going to be known as cj2 as I'm pretty sure that is
registered with MS. I expect the registration under cj has expired.
I'll see if I start getting their comments on my questions.

Along those lines the posts seem to expire after a few months and I
can't go back and refresh my memory on old questions I've asked. I've
found I can go to Google and read them but can't through my newsgroup
reader. If you have any words of wisdom on that let me know. I use
Thunderbird as the newsgroup reader and the groups are listed from
msnews.microsof t.com. Otherwise I'll just plod along.

cj,

The MSDN part of this newsgroup works only as you connect to MSDN , logon to
that with the ID that is connected to your subscription and then use then
Web newsgroup client on that website.

The help is of course only needed as there is not already given a proper
answer, there is not said that you got help from a MSFT there is said that
you get an answer. It is very disturbing this newsgroup as we see 10
replies from an MSFT with the questi if the help has been good, while there
has been given very good answers by others long before that.

On your last question you got a very correct answer from Paul and very
quick. The MSDN subscription tells you only within 2 USA working days. So
even if you had logged on in the right way, you should have to wait at least
26 hours before you complain.

Actually, there is a page with the numbers, I remember having to use
the when I had a problem with my msdn working. The bad thing is that I
can't remember for the life of me how I can get back to that page.

If all else fails, I think you can call 1-800-Microsoft (if stateside)
and after waiting on hold for forever you might make it to the msdn
support people.

Thanks,

I understand the limits of our msdn accounts. I used to get some form
of answer from MS on most questions usually overnight even if it was to
say they agreed with the answer given by someone else. I was beginning
to wonder why I hadn't heard from them. I'm not going to apologize for
wanting to know that at they're still watching my posts.

Keep in mind that due to whatever happened with my username following
our renewal in April only the kind folks who frequent here have been
answering all my questions MS hasn't been bother by me one bit. So if I
can get that kind of support for free, what are we paying MS for? About
the only thing I can think of is it assures me that I will get someone
to answer my question no matter how dumb or trivial it my be with 48
hours. That's not much. Personally I feel for the money we spend on
msdn we should have maybe an MS email address I could send questions to
with about 2 hour response time.

Anyway, I should be back in their system now and hopefully they will
again be joining the kind folks that use this board now in answering
some of my questions.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
