In a Winform application using VB.Net is there a way to capture the user's
Windows login name? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

System.Environm ent will provide you with a lot of system information.

Hello everyone and thanks for your help in advance. I am working on an application to track visitors to my website. However, I am confused as to what data to capture for the session, specifically the Remote_Host, UserHostAddress, and UserHostname. I am unclear as to whether the Remote_Host and UserHostAddress are the same thing and what exactly the UserHostName signifies. I have checked many resources, but can't seem to get clear on...

I wrote a small data processing application that writes a summary of several hundred files. I use drag and drop on a panel (Panel1) to grab the absolute path to each of these files. Then I begin analyzing all of the files. I noticed (on the same machine) that some user profiles appear to abbreviate the absolute paths to these files thus breaking my data loading mechanism. Does anyone know how I can programmatically change this filepath...

Hi All, We have a requirement where we have to develop a custom Login Page which will accept user's NT credentials ( Username , password, domain name). This then needs to be passed to a website which uses Windows Authentication Now my question is how do we pass these credentials to IIS in classic ASP? Would appreciate any help/pointers on this. Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, Not a developer, but an admin so please pardon my ignorance. I have an issue that I was hoping to get help with. What I need is for the front page of my site to capture the URL that the user is requesting. Regardless of where they go, they are prompted to login...but I want the initial login page to capture where they have REQUESTED to go and store it somewhere (I assume a cookie).

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
