Get a list of available Schemas in a Database via ODBC

JB
Hi All,

I'd like to know how to get a list of available Schemas in a Database
via ODBC.
I had a look at the GetSchema function but I can only get a list of
Tables. Ideally I'd like to get just the list of Schemas to save me
from having to browse the full table list to extract all the available
schemas.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
JB

I have a Python application server that manages several different data sets, permits various reports to be run on them and the data to be downloaded as tab-delimetered files, all via a web interface. I'd like to explore the possibilities of making the data directly available in Windows applications (such as Excel, where it would very nice to directly do pivot tables from the live data) via ODBC. So I basically need for my Python server...

I created a view on an Access 2002 database through an ODBC query tool. The view works fine either through ODBC or the Access IDE. The problem I am having is that it does not show up in the Queries list on the Access IDE. It's almost as if ODBC did not write a portion of the data dictionary or something.. quite odd. Has anyone heard of this problem before and know of a cause/solution? I would like to continue to create the views without...

I'm running Access 2002 (on W2K) and need to access a MySQL database. I've installed and configured the latest MySQL ODBC driver, and it works perfectly from Excel, but in Access 2002 the File->Get External Data->Link Tables->Files of Type list does not include ODBC databases. Interesting, it *does* include a 'type' of 'Registry Error (*.*)'. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Access to no avail. I can't find a

Hi all, I am new to the list and I didn't want to seem rude at all so I wanted to ask if this was okay first. I have a program I have written in perl which uses a postgresSQL database as the backend. The program works but the performance is really bad. I have been reading as much as I can on optimizing performance but still it isn't very reasonable. At one point I had my program able to process 175,000 records in 16min 10sec on a...

I'm looking for something that can read .MDB files, the format Microsoft Access uses, from Python. I need to do this on Linux, without using Microsoft tools. I just need to read the files once, so I can load the tables into another database. Speed isn't an issue, and I don't need to access the file in database fashion. The files are too big to read into RAM all at once, though. I tried "MDBtools", but the only (last) release was a...

I'm new to programming and even newer to Python and would be grateful for some help on what has been a tough problem for me. The project I am working on is an electronic medical record using MySQL/Python. I'm currrently working on a module that looks up a patient's name based on input from the user. My goal is a lookup based on the first 2 or 3 letters of the patient's last name. The matching results would appear as numbered choices...

Hi All, I'm writing an application that connects to various databases via ODBC. I'd like to get a list of all the available Schemas and Tables in a Database. It looks like the GetSchema function is what I need, however there seem to be slight differences between various drivers. For instance when calling GetSchema("Tables") the SQL Server ODBC driver returns the following columns:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
