If you develop for others, you probably have multiple versions of Access
installed so you can edit and create MDEs for clients in different versions.
This works fine under Windows XP, even with Access 2007 installed.
It does *not* work under Windows Vista Ultimate. After running Access 2007,
when you open an earlier version of Access, no code works, because the
references are fouled up. And Access 97 does not work at all.
Access should...

I am using VS Express (VB and C#) under Vista Ultimate. When I installed I
got msg to install updates to make VS work with Vista. I did this and
turned off the msg to show that it is not compatable. At present there are
all sorts of VS errors (just like VS 2002). Things like my right hand CTL
key after a while turns CTL-C etc into non english characters. Close and
open to get rid of.
Any ideas????

Hi,
Plannig to buy Vista, but not sure what version to get.
I do VS.NET development, mostly ASP.NET.
Can IIS be installed on Vista home premium? Or do I need business or
ultimate?

Even though I had my roots and highlights redone just a few days ago, I
don't understand why I appear to be having an ongoing blond moment.
Is it just me or do others among you not 'get' how to make C# and VB.Net
applications play nicely with the the UAC on Vista.
I have read and reread everything I can find on UAC, 'strong-naming' of
assemblies, 'authenticode signing' of assemblies and, even though I'm not
your average thicko by any...

Hi All,
I have an application which records the sound using lame encoder. It works perfectly fine means I am able to record the sound on all Operating systems but when I tried the same on Vista Ultimate there it fails. There the recrded file does not have bit rate and hence it does not play.
After some work around I found some where that Vista skips the mp3 file while recording. The default windows media player on vista ultimate does not...

I have a friend who's small company is on VB6 and SQL2000 for their apps.
They would like to know what arguments (high level) there are for upgrading
to the current version/platform of VB.NET 2008 and SQL2008.
Saying "newer/better/faster" isn't a strong enough argument when the counter
to that could be "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
Does anyone have a few bullet points that make an argument for upgrading?
Thanks.

Currently running an Access97 app split fe/be on one pc running
Windows XP. Upgrading to Access 2003 and adding a new pc running
Windows Vista via a router (wired). Obviously both pc's will have
their own FE. Not overly concerned about Access upgrade but have
limited experience in networked apps so have a few questions.
1. Do we need 2 copies of Access 2003 (or 2 registration keys)?
2. Which PC should act as the server?

The importance of backups can never be emphasized enough. In Vista Ultimate and Windows Server 2008, there is a built in feature to take care of backups called Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore.
It can be found by:
Start >> All Programs >> Maintenance >> Backup and Restore Center
Backing Up Your Data and PC
Backup my files
If you only want to back up your important files and data, Backup and Restore Center gives you this option.

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
