Solution configuration problem

I just got a new machine and installed .NET 2005. In VB.NET 2005 in the old
machine, under "Project" - "properties ", in the "Compile" tab, I can see
"Configurat ion" and "Platform" combo box with selection "Debug", "Release",
"All Configuration". In the new machine I do not see the "configurat ion"
combo box. Also, when I customize my toolbar (I drag "Build" - "Solution
configurations" to the toolbar), the "Solution configurations" combo box is
greyed out on the tool bar.
How can I change my project configuration from debug to release, and vice
versa ?
Thank you.

Never mind.
The solution is in the "Tools" - "Option", under "Project and solutions" I
need to check "Show advanced build configurations" .

Scenario: This is about debugging server side scripts that make calls to middle-tier business DLLs. The server side scripts are legacy ASP 3.0 pages, and the DLLs are managed DLLs converted/developed with VB.NET. What I want from debugging is to be able to step into the methods in the DLLs called from ASP scripts using Visual Studio .NET. Background: For typical script debugging issues, you can read and follow the two documents on...

This seems to be a Visual Studio 2003 problem: I am using www.obout.com 's treeview control and their postback dll ( for an aspx web page ). Their treeview and no postback works, BUT the postback dll keeps getting removed from the solution. No problems with any of the other dlls in the app. I have asked www.obout.com about this but they do not know. How do I prevent the DLL from getting removed from the solution?? or

Hi, I'm currently developing an HR system which involves storing a lot of configurations per module, such as payroll module, absence/shift module, training module, etc. total: around 100 configuration items. Configurations here, ranging from a simple key to value pair, a key to multiple values, and a key to several records of a / multiple values. Let me give an example to clarify this:

Hello all, Note: This is the full version of a Post that I inadvertently sent before it was complete. About a year ago I wrote a VB.NET 2003 solution that consists of a number of assemblies (1 EXE and 15 DLLS). As I recall, in order to deploy the solution to a testing server I simply copied the contents of the Bin folder in the development area where the compiled assemblies reside. Be patient with me here, because I haven't used...

Hi, While adding a SQL (server 2005 express edition) database to an APP_DATA directory in solution explorer of VWD 2005 I get the following error: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. Hello, If I have a Visual studio project configured to vbuild againts one SDK. How is the normal procedure to build that solution against other different SDK that I have installed after previous application was created. Is there in VS any menu or any option to configure a new SDK to add to our solution? or my solution only can configure SDKs in the wizard when you create the app?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
