Hi
Is it possible to mask console input in a c# console application?
What I mean is: if I entered string "test" in the console, it'll echo
"****"(or nothing) instead of the string "test".
I've tried setting the foregroud color of the console the same as the
backgroud color through native API, but it doesn't really hide the password,
actually, users can manually change the foregroud color in a windows console
window, or they can copy the...

I am starting to try to write a console application and I have question about
how to launch these type of applications.
I create a "driver" class which will execute the appopriate functionality
based upon and input parameter, but I am not sure I have seen any example of
how to read this value into the program when it launches. So I see it like
this...
At the DOS prompt, I enter "MyApp.exe FileMaint"

Hi,
can I detect whether my class is running within the context of a Console
application, vs say a WinForm's application ?
also does anyone know whether the compiler or runtime is smart enough to
avoid the overhead of writing to the console if it is not visible, eg I
am running inside a WinForm application.
thanks

I'm stuck. I have created a console application that does its job of
collecting the data I want it to however I am stuck on writing this data back
to a database. All of the examples I have been able to find on using the
SQLConnectin, SQLDataAdapter and DataSet objects all point me to a forms
application where you can visually modify the data the send the
update, insert, delete commands. I have not been able to locate how to update
or...

VB .Net 2003, .Net Framework 1.1, Windows XP Pro SP1
I've written a console application which I run as a scheduled task. How do
I return an exit status value (or string) from the application so that the
status is displayed in the Status column of the Scheduled Tasks window?
I've tried the following methods, and the console app definitely runs (as
shown by the Last Run Time in the Scheduled Tasks window), however the
Status column is...

I am writing a small console application that runs fine unless I am re-
directing the output to a file (i.e. c:\ app.exe >>output.txt) . I
have determined that the issue is caused by the Console.Clear()
function. When piping to a file, the console.clear causes the
following error:
Unhandled Exception: System.IO.IOException: The handle is invalid.
at System.IO.IO__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String
maybeFullPath)

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
