We're starting a new project with a distributed winform client that
communicates with a central server, primarily all on the same LAN. Large
amounts of data may be sent to and from the client.
My first thought was to use WCF but I was sad to learn that Framework 3 is
not supported on Win 2k workstations, so that is unfortunately not an option
:-(
I like the better speed of _remoting_ over _webservices_, especially since
we are talking...

Hello,
I've been trying to create a WCF SOAP Router Service that can forward not
just the message body but also any security headers set by the originator of
the message. The destination service I'm routing messages to uses
WSHttpBinding, SSL with UserName/Password client credentials. Using guidance
from the Technology samples I can create a router that forwards messages
without security credentils but not with them. Can anybody point me...

can you show me in more detail? I have same problem where on the page
it's https://service.premilance.com/Company.svc, but the svcutil tells
me to get it from https://pserver1/Company.svc?wsdl which is
incorrect.. I have no clue how to fix it and i'm struggling for two
days already :(

Hello out there,
I have 2 services running. The first one runs in session mode and the
2nd not.
The first one should call an operation of the 2nd one asynchronously,
because this is doing some long running calculations.
If this call is synchronously, everything is running okay. If it's call
async the operation does not even start.
(I've setup up some event log message at the entry point).

Hi everyone, I really was hesitant to post here for fear of seeming
foolish but I really am desparate, and do appreciate any opportunity
to get answers from real people. So please forgive the stupid
questions.
I just recently becan learning about WCF as a way to create web
services. I had no prior experience developing web service
architecture.
My main question is very naive -- I hope someone can be kind enough to

I'm researching what is the best way to create a generic WCF proxy wrapper
that has the following requirements:
1. Remove the System.ServiceModel config section requirement for clients. We
have our own configuration management that follows our application lifecycle
(development/system test/production). Also, most of the proxies we build are
for the middle-tier layer.
2. Create a wrapper to follow WCF Client best practices (proxy.close...

Hello!
We have a situation where in we're developing a WCF Intermediatery service, which would handle calls between Callers (could be asp.net wcf clients)
and External Services (mostly WCF Services with endpoints).
ASP.net clients <--Our WCF Service <--External Services
Scenario: Our service is mainly there to ENCAPSULATE the low-level details of business-processing and making calls to external services and processing the return from...

Here is my scenario for a problem I can't solve. I am hosting a 3.5 WCF
service in IIS on Windows Server 2003. The service works fine with the WCF
test client in Visual Studio 2008 and from an ASP.Net client hosted on my
development machine in VS2008. As soon as I deploy the ASP.net client to the
"Same" IIS server, I get Access Denied messages.
My goal is to use AD security groups so the authenticated user on the
ASP.net page should be...

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
