When I try to retrieve values from the register with
Select Case
Dir(CStr(My.Com puter.Registry. GetValue("HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE\S oftware\Kassasy steem\Gegevensl ocatie",
"Gegevenspa d", "")) & "\" &
CStr(My.Compute r.Registry.GetV alue("HKEY_LOCA L_MACHINE\Softw are\Kassasystee m\Gegevenslocat ie", "Gegevensbestan d", "")))
and the entries I look for do not exist, I nevertheless get a value
"AClient.cf g", a file that is located on the root directory of my C drive.
How is this possible?
Both keys

HKEY_LOCAL_MACH INE\Software\Ka ssasysteem\Gege venslocatie\Geg evensbestand
do NOT exist in the registry.
Can anyone enlighten me on that?

Michel,
When the values don't exist in the registry you are returning a default
value of "".
Therefore, the argument to the Dir function is "" & "\" & "". In other
words, you are looking in the root directory.

Hi -- I'm trying to deploy a VB.NET application that references COM dlls.
When I add the dlls to my deployment project the Register property of these
files defaults to COMSelfReg. Does this mean I have to register the dlls
myself somehow? Or can I change the value to COM so that the installer
registers it for me? Not sure what the difference is between these two
values and the help on this topic is not very helpful.
