We have an object factory that returns weakly typed
datasets (just plain ol' DataSet's). I need to cast it, or
transform it, or map it to a strongly typed dataset.
There's an old adage I heard from a Microsoft developer a
long time ago: If it's taking more than 10 lines of code,
then you are doing it wrong.
Is there an *easy* way to do this in a *generic* way? I
have been experimenting with serveral techniques and

Hello.
I am getting an InvalidCastException which has revealed yet more of my ignorance. I cant believe i
dont already know this and haven't encountered it before until now.
I am consuming a dataset from a webservice. I wrote both the server and client apps and the both use
the same middle teir. I fill a dataset on the server that has a relationship between two of the
tables inside. The relationship is between two strongly typed tables...

I am confused how strongly typed dataset is different from un-typed dataset.
Is there any good link explaining pros and cons of both? Which one should be
used preferably?

I have been developing applications with Java for quite a while but I am new
to .NET development. I am trying to learn the ".NET way" of creating Strongly
Typed Objects from a database. The Enterprise Library seems pretty close to
what I am used to in Java but I am not sure how to create strongly-typed
DataSets. I see that I can use the LoadDataSet method from a
Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data.Database but I am not clear on how...

Hi!
How do I explore in code, which properties (columns) are in a datatable? I
need to run some code for each column.
I guess the answer is reflection somehow, but I dont know where to start.
If someone could point me to a relevant example, I would be most grateful.

How do I pass a dataset to a webservices? I need to submit a shoppingcart
from a pocket PC to a webservice.
What is the right datatype?
II have tried dataset as a datatype, but I can't get it to compile.
<WebMethod()> _
Public Function VerifySku(ByVal skus As XmlDataDocument) As DataSet
Test program :
Dim cartSet As DataSet
cartSet = ws.VerifySku(cartSet)

I'm writing an winforms app in vb.net 1.1 and am having trouble referencing
a strongly typed dataset in the UI project. The dataset's source is behind
a web service and the data project (client side) gets a reference to the
dataset schema and all that comes with strongly typing a dataset via a
reference to the web service. The business tier which depends on the data
tier and also imports the namespace of the data project can reference...

Hello
I developed and tested a web application using VS.NET 2003, VB, .NET
Framework 1.1.4322, ASP.NET 1.1.4322 and IIS5.1. It uses a web form.
I used the XML Designer to create an XML .XSD Schema to produce a Dataset.
In looking for a way to start adding data to the dataset programmatically, i
found this method in just about every thing i read.

I'm a bit puzzled by the current recommendation not to send Datasets or
Datatables between application tiers.

Formerly, with classic Microsoft DNA architecture, the ADO Recordset was a
primary transport medium, recommended for transmitting data between
application tiers. In fact, there are whole books written on the subject.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
