changing underlying Access text field to date/time problem

In my project I have an underlying Access DB. One of the column's is
currently set as a text field but I need to change it to a date/time
field.

I can open the Access DB in MS Access and change this in Design mode
and then set the format to 'Short Date' and then open the appropriate
table and it has converted all rows from:

1-5-95
5-13-95
etc...

to

1/5/1995
5/13/1995
etc...

And that's exactly what I want. But then when I run my project in
debug and it loads the datagridview with my DataView it populates the
column with not only the date, but also a default time. Thats not what
I want or desire. But since I set my datasource for the DGV like this

custDV = New DataView(Member shiptextDataSet 1.Membership)
MembershipDataG ridView.DataSou rce = custDV

I don't know of any way for me to set that column's format to show
only the short date that I need. Also, I have several other columns
that are also currently text fields that I'm thinking of changing to
date/time fields as well. But if I can't figure a way to stop it from
appending a time on I wont be able to do this.

Can someone help me get the result I'm trying for please?

Hello all! For quite some time now, I've got the following problem: Access won't close properly when a user closes the application. An ACCESS process stays active and that process can only be terminated by pressing ++ and then terminate the process. I searched the entire internet and found out that there could be two things wrong (both of them are mentioned in the bug list on the access

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en- us;819450 Questions: 1) Is this patch (fix) applicable to the .NET 1.1 Framework as well? That is, if we have Framework 1.1 (On Win2K3/IIS6.0), do we still need this patch? 2) Does it specifically solve only this error: The underlying connection was closed. An unexpected error

I have a gridview that's being populated from an access db query. The problem I'm having is that the date/time fields in access that are populating the gridview are showing both date and time, when the field should only be showing one or the other (date or time). Even on the back end of the database where the column properties are, I have chosen the smallest date/time formats. When the aspx page runs, it shows the date and time (ie:in a...

I have an invoicing system that uses a VB6 program to post new invoice entries to a centralized Vendor management system (also in VB6), via a Web server and some ASP code. The system has been in production for some time now, but one pesky little problem keeps surfacing periodically. System Description: 1. For each new line on an invoice, a specially formatted query line is appended to an Access database along with a blank time/date field....

Hi !! I'm about to develop a new project for a client. Should I go about it in Access 2003 or 2007 ? Purchasing it either for me or for my client is not a major consideration here ... what I'd like to know is the stability, speed & ease of use of both the products. I believe Access 2007 has a new file format too and that it may be slower.

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
