reading binary array from Serial Port

RG
I am trying to read from my serial port a 24 bit binary number.
I was able to read this number as a HEX but I was getting errors as at
times using the vBCrLf indicator.
I also can read it as an incoming string looking for the vbCrLf
indicator but it too gave me errors as the length of the stream was
not always 24 bits for some reason.

I have to slow the output down to reduce the amount of garbled data
being sent to the serial port.

I want to try reading the buffer as an array but I don't have much
experience with arrays.
Is there any example code out there of how to read a serial port
buffer in 24 bit chunks?

Hello to everybody, I've done an application that draws in a frame the trajectory of a robot. The robot position is readed through the serial port, and several commands are wrote through the same port to change the direction of the robot. The trajectory frame is managed by an applet, and the project works good when the applet is called by a html document allocated in the same local machine under W98 where the classes and the serial port...

Hi, I need to write binary data to a serial port. I am using this function: #include <unistd.h> ssize_t write(int fd, const void *buf, size_t count); I am able to write a alpha-numeric character to the port using this: write (filedescriptor,"a",1);

I am trying to send a 6 byte char array from the serial port in new C# 2005 Express: com.Write(new string(new char { (char)34, (char)14, (char)192, (char)51, (char)0, (char)0 }, 0, 6)); I am receiving 34,14,63,51,0,0 from the port as I connected Tx and Rx pins to each other by using the following code: private void com_DataReceived(object sender, SerialDataReceivedEventArgs e) {

I have a micro controller that sends a stream of 102 bytes to the pc. The values range from 0 to 255. I set up my serialport like this sp.BaudRate = 115200; sp.PortName = "COM53"; sp.DataBits = 8; sp.StopBits = System.IO.Ports.StopBits.One; sp.Parity = System.IO.Ports.Parity.None; sp.ReadTimeout = 0; sp.Open();

I have a device hooked up to my COM port that I read data from the serial port into my program. If the device is in its double mode the information that comes back is an 8 bit binary field for each record on the machine. Set up as follows Bit 7 -- Data type (Set to a 1) Bit 6 -- Not used (set to 0) Bits 5 - 0 -- Set to a 1 if the corresponding field is checked on the machine.

I am trying to read the data from a device on a serial port. I connect just fine and can receive data fine in text mode but not in binary mode. In text mode the data from the device comes in like this: S~5BBBBBBBBBBBBBBB5BBBBBBBB5B31BB4BB2B5BB4BBBE S is the start of the line, ~ indicates a good read, B is a blank reading, and the numbers 1-6 correspond to a location on the device for a line. So there are six positions on the line...

I've done a fair amount of Googling for information on reading the serial port in C++ (and in Linux). Unfortunately, out of every 4 hits, 1 seems to be an unanswered question, 1 is someone saying, "That's easy, there's a lot out there, Google it,", 1 is a discussion on it without examples and the other is who knows what. I did find some info on it and have been experimenting. The one example that I liked the best in terms of...

Hello, I am working on a python library for sending and receiving data from a Subaru's ECU (the fuel injection computer) via the OBD-II port and an OBD to USB cable, with the Subaru Select Monitor protocol. There are a few open source programs that do this already (http://romraider.com/ , http://jdash.sourceforge.net/ , http://tari.co.za/downloads/software/source/ ), but they are written in Java or C++. I have never done anything with serial...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
