Catching a power state change... (specifically entering sleep)

Hello,

I, as well as suspecting many others, am having an issue when I
attempt to enter sleep mode in Vista.
If any program is connected to the internet (AOL Instant Messenger for
instance), and I go to enter Sleep mode; Vista will automatically
leave Sleep mode immediately.

I believe this is caused by the fact that Sleep attempts to disconnect
AIM, then AIM attempts to reconnect; thrwarting Vista's attempt to
sleep.

I have found documentation on how to send the PC into Sleep mode, but
can not find documentation on how to detect the power state change.
Does anyone know how to detect the power state change?

There are various other methods that can be used; such as running
interference on my sleep button, or hax0ring the "power" button on the
start menu; both to launch a script or program that will close
whatever programs then execute a sleep. I'd rather actually learn how
to detect when the PC is going into sleep mode.
Thanks very much!
Matt

Hello! I was looking at marking objects with a changed state, once properties have been changed. The reason behind this is, that I would like to enlist such objects for processing in a transaction. The example below illustrates a sample pattern, which is fine when exposing simple value types. However, when exposing reference types, it...

This post is intended to verify that true value semantics DO NOT EXIST for the Enum class (relative to boolean operations). If this is true then (thus and therefore) you can not design state machines in C# where the machine can use the enumerated 'state' to execute (thus the term 'machine' as in 'state machine') the machine operations as...

Our machines have this requirement: if power failure occurs, many important variables are to be resumed from where they were interrupted after the machine is restarted (power on in this case). In other words, the basic idea is to keep a snapshot of the state machine before it is interrupted. The board is provided with: - a 32-bit H8S/2633...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows.
