Note: I tried cross-posting this message to several newsgoups,
including comp.lang.perl.misc, c.l.p.moderated,
comp.infosystems.www.authoring.cgi, comp.lang.javascript and
comp.lang.php. Nothing appeared on my news server, so I'm trying
again - this time posting a separate copy of the message to each
group.
I'm thinking this should be fairly easy to accomplish - a quick and
dirty ... what? ... script? program?

Beside its an opensource and supported by community, what's the fundamental
differences between PostgreSQL and those high-price commercial database (and
some are bloated such as Oracle) from software giant such as Microsoft SQL
Server, Oracle, and Sybase?
Is PostgreSQL reliable enough to be used for high-end commercial
application? Thanks

Let me just start out by saying that I am a Java webapp developer. I
was pulled into rebuilding our intranet site. I have limited
experience with what is the best method for structuring an intranet
site.
We have a pretty big (~1000 pages) intranet site that has completly
gone to crap. The person that was in charge of the site has left the
company. Now that she is gone, they have come to me to revamp the look
and feel of the site. So I...

Hello, I have a Windows Application that needs to load multiple image files
in response to users clicking buttons. Currently, I just have these images
as .jpg files on disk, but I don't want to have to migrate the files
everywhere that the executable is installed. Is there a way to add them to a
Visual Studio solution/project so that they are embedded in the application
somehow? If so, how do I access the images when needed?
Thanks,...

Hi Guys: I was stuck. I needed to send a report to a file. My
beautiful report(s) in Access were going to require loss of formatting
with RTFs, a PITA in WordMailMerge, sending it as a text file...whatever.
I described my situation to the guy I'm doing work for and he did some
research for me and came up with the following link.

The part that should excite us Access developers is their SDK

Hi,
I need to store lots of product images. I was thinking of storing the paths
in the database but overtime it may become cumbersome as I'll be dealing with
lots of images.
I would need to display both a thumbnail and large versions. The average
size per image is 400kb and the max display is 1702 by 2542.
Would SQL Server be a good alternative?

Hello,
I need to display or propose a jpeg image on a web page.
When I need to display the image, I use this code :
header("Content-Length: $fileSize") ;
header("Content-Type: $type") ;
header("Content-disposition: inline") ;
header("Location: $imageURL");
And when I need to propose the image to save, I use this one :

Hello
I see there is now why to truncate a file (in C or C++)
and that I have to use platform-specific functions for
truncating files.
Anyone knows why ? I mean C/C++ evolved over many years now,
and still, people making _the_ standards never decided to
include such a function. Even in POSIX it was included only
in recent versions, mostly not fully supported yet.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
