How to send/receive a serializable object in socket?

Hi, I want to send/receive a serializable object in socket:
==========sende r==========

Dim MyMessage As New MessageClass.Me ssage()
Dim client As New TcpClient
client.Connect( My.MySettings.D efault.Server,
My.MySettings.D efault.ServerPo rt)
Dim clientStream As NetworkStream = client.GetStrea m
Dim serializer As IFormatter = New BinaryFormatter ()
serializer.Seri alize(clientStr eam, MyMessage)
clientStream.Cl ose()

===========rece ive==========
Dim serializer As IFormatter = New BinaryFormatter ()
Dim listener As TcpListener = New TcpListener(IPA ddress.Any,
My.MySettings.D efault.Port)
listener.Start( )
Dim client As TcpClient = listener.Accept TcpClient
Dim clientStream As New NetworkStream(c lient.Client, False)
Dim ReciveMessage As MessageClass.Me ssage =
TryCast(seriali zer.Deserialize (clientStream2) , MessageClass.Me ssage)
MsgBox(ReciveMe ssage.ToString)

=============== =============== =

there are no problem. But when I put the receive function to a while
loop. I found that I can't get the second object. It shows some
exception.(in java, I can use Stream.flush; Stream.reset to fix it, but
I can't find the same in .net). Anyone can tell me
how to send/receive a serializable object in socket? (I want to write a
chat server/client, any other way?)
Thanks in advance.

Hi. I am trying to use Sockets to do multiple Send and Receives via HTTP (not simultaneously). A first pair of Send/Receives works fine and sure enough I receive HTML back, but the next Send/Receive pair (even if identically the same as the first pair) returns no data. eg. The following simplified code will receive some bytes: s.Send(ByteGet, ByteGet.Length, SocketFlags.None); bytes = s.Receive(RecvBytes, RecvBytes.Length, 0); //...

I wrote a small server/client app. I created a class for my customized socket object using (synchronous) Sockets functions for both server and client use. When client connects to server, if It sends something to server, everything works fine (i.e. server received what client sent). But if I try to make server send anything, client receive 0 byte although server send a correct bytes size. Any idea ?

Hi, I've got a C# client/service application using a Socket object to communicate. I have a socket bug that I can't solve without kludged-code. Does anyone know a more elegant solutions? Is this a known bug with the .NET Socket object? Under high stress data sending, I occasionally receive duplicate data on the server which really throws a wrench into the system. The duplicate data I receive is always part of the tail end of the last...

Hi, I'm able to make connection to a server using socket connection. However, when I send a command string the server just ignores it. All command string needs to start with "0xF9" at Byte 0. During the run-time debug, I see it to be "u" with a "~" on top of it. Is that OxF9? Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks, Alpha private void Connect(String server, String message) { //Socket Connect

smtpClient.Send(message) is causing me problems as per specifics in the trace below. Email is sent but not without this error typically upon sending the second email, but sometimes when running the app, even the first time. The application will be required to be sending out repeated emails, about one every second or two. Must this be done asynchronously? Thank you. -Greg I get the generic error messages;

Hello, Could someone please explain why the Socket.Send is slow to send to the same process it sending from. Eg. Process1 calls Socket.Send which sends to the same IP address and port, the receiver is running within Process1. If I move the receiver into Process2 then its fast. Please can someone explain.

There is two examples of code. Example 1. Send and Receive within the same process. Put this code in a console app called SendAndReceive and run the code. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Net; using System.Net.Sockets; using System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary;

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
