vb.net 2003: .ascx ibuyspy portal problem

The below problem is occurring in Visual Studio .NET 2003 in a Ibuyspy
portal project:

I've been running into some really strange problems adding a .ascx file to
my ibuyspy portal project. I have created a new .ascx file, and copy &
pasted some controls from another .ascx file into this new file. I've
verified in the .HTML that the correct .ascx file is referenced (i.e. in the
code behind and inherits attributes). In design, the .ascx file looks
correct and the code-behind also looks correct (as to imports statements,
inherits statements, class definitions etc.). I compile the code and it
looks like it's running correctly but when I step through the Page_Load sub
(which is correctly setup w/a handles statement) it's as if the code that is
running isn't what I'm looking at. In my step-through of Page_Load comments
look like they're being executed (i.e. the single steps stop on comments),
whole sections of code are skipped over (when stepping thru via F-11) and
methods which aren't being called at all are being executed. I also get
breakpoint errors (something along the lines of "the following breakpoint
will never be hit because the symbols for this document haven't been
loaded"). I'm at a total loss. Does anyone have any ideas?

When adding a new control to the IBuySpy portal, assuming that the control is written using the Codebehind model, Would you need to compile their codebehind file into your Portal.dll file? From what I've seen, all you need to do is add a Module definition, but when I see codebehind files, something tells me that I need to recompile the portal to have the new classes from the new component in it. Am I right? Or am I missing something? ...

What makes something an IBuySpyControl Portal Module as opposed to just an ASP.NET control? I'm guessing it's using the methodologies of the IBuySpy portal (SQL Server repository)? Thanks!

We are wanting to use ibuyspy portal as our website. Load content into HTML and change the stylesheet. We see this as very attractive since frequently changed pages can be done in MS word and converted to HTML and then their source put into the portal modules. Some problems we have run into: - Our current web site is made in Macromedia Dreamweaver. The dreamweaver automatically manages links for you. How can we do that for ibuyspy...

I am using the C# version of ASP.Net Portal Starter Kit (formally called IBuySpy) and trying to test it with the PocketPC emulator that comes with Visual Studio. However, along with numerous runtime errors, it appears that there is not even code to support the user logging-in from a mobile device. Does the feature really work? Thank you,

I would like to be able to load a Control (ASCX) that is placed in a folder outside webscope - but with read/write ability for IUSR/ASPNET-process. I usually use Page.LoadControl() to load my controls , but this method requires a _virtual_ path - and it does not permit paths that go "above" the root folder of the virtual directory/website. Is there a way arround this? I need it since I am building a small CMS that will allow the...

I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm dealing with a web portal that uses a single aspx file at the top, which dynamically loads ascx controls into it. On one of these controls I have a textbox that I'd like to enter html codes into. Problem-- every time I try submitting the page I get the warning message that I may be posting unsafe data. I'd like to set things so there is no validation from the ascx file. I cannot set the pageValidate...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
