Updating different controls on a form

Hi everyone,

Anyone have a generic procedure to updating different types of controls
on a form. I have text boxes and switches (booleans). I would like to
loop through all the controls and check if the values have changed
since the form was loaded. I tried the following below for the text
boxes:

Private Sub CheckIfChanged( ByVal ctrls As Control.Control Collection)

Dim strOut As String

For Each ctrl As Control In Me.Controls
If TypeOf ctrl Is TextBox Then
If DirectCast(ctrl , TextBox).Modifi ed Then
strOut = String.Format(" {0} text box is changed",
DirectCast(ctrl , TextBox).Name)
UniqueCtlStatus .Text += NewLine + strOut
End If
End If
Next

End Sub

The above works fine for checking text boxes. I need something else to
check for switches. For reference the switch is a National Instruments
Measurement Studio. object but it inherits from basic controls.

Thanks,

Al

Hi folks, I'm new to JavaScript and need some help. I have a form with a select field. Depending on what is selected in this field, I want to display or not display another select field. For example first field asks the user if they drive, if the user selects "NO" the form doesn't change. If they select "YES", another field appears with different makes to chose from. If they change back to "NO" the second field dissapears again.

What do you do when you've designed an app at 800x600 and you now want to make use of higher res?. It's an internal app and won't be distributed to the world. I'm sometimes asked to squeeze in a new field or two in a form that has most, if not all, screen real estate in use. I'll mention that the form is top/bottom/left/right filled in. The person will be looking at the form in high res and say "We have lots of room to insert it." ...

I have a form, bound to a query. Its RecordSource property is a query named frmEnterLienAmounts. The form has a few bound controls and some unbound controls. The unbound controls are calculated fields whose DefaultValue property is set to something like DLookUp("","tblVehicleJobs","=Forms!frmEnterLienAmounts!VehicleJobID") The form (frmEnterLienAmounts) has, as one of its bound fields . As I scroll through the records, one-

I'm creating a table that contains multiple records pulled out of the database. I'm building the table myself and passing it to the page since the table needs to be fairly customized (ie, a datagrid isn't going to work). On this page, people can update a variet of records. On submit, I want to then go in and update all of the records. Normally, I'd make each form element include a runat: server and then declare it in my codebhind so I...

Hi all, I may be missing something with how databinding works but I have bound a datasource to a control and everything is great, the control updates to reflect the state of my datasource when I update the datasource - awesome, but I have an issue with updating from a different thread. Here is my datasource, a person class that raises the PropertyChanged event: class Person : INotifyPropertyChanged {

Unless my app is EXTREMELY simple, I get the cross-threading error message regularly when updating controls on a Windows form. My latest example involves a dll that runs a System.Threading.Timer, updating private shared variables. When it finishes updating, it raises a NewData event. My app responds to that event by updating display controls (labels in this case). I have to use a delegate and update them like this: Private Sub...

I have a class with a method which returns a panel. The panel was not created with the visual editor, I coded it by hand -- because some of the content on the panel can be dynamic and thus I chose to do it that way. At any rate, I have an event handler for a button which instantiates an object of that class I mentioned and calls the method to return the panel. I put the panel on form1 like so: // it's really not called 'Class', I...

So here's the situation (.NET 2.0 btw): I have a form, and on this form is a textbox among many other databound controls. The textbox is bound to a field in a data table via the Text property. In this table there are multiple columns that cannot be NULL, which, are bound to other controls (but they're not really important at this time). I create a new row via the currency manager like so: _currencyManager.AddNew() _currentRow =...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
