How to launch program from CD after vb deployment installed

Hi All

I have a program which is installed on users computers via an msi from
vb.net 2005 deployment project

At the end of the install (.net framework and my application) I want to auto
launch another program of mine from the same CD which contains logic to
install sql server express depending on the users needs

How do I launch it from the CD when the initial setup program has completed

The VB.net deployment project custom actions want to run additional programs
from the users computer installation folder and I don't want to do that
Regards
Steve

In the setup project I am trying to create, I am wanting to search to see if DirectX 8 is installed on the local machine. I figured the best way to determine would be a registry key search, so I add one. The problem comes in with the properties for the registry key search. The properties are RegKey and Value. In viewing the registry editor, the registry key is Software\Microsoft\DirectX. Within that, you have a value name and a value...

Hi folks, I have a small VB app and I've created a deployment project for it. At the end of installation I would like the user to get a prompt like "Run your new program now? yes/no" -- or text/buttons to that effect. I would then like the program to launch after installation is complete. I have a few questions about this. Any help would be appreciated: 1. In the User Interface Editor, I added a RadioButtons dialog to the End

Hi, I’m trying to launch application after it was installed. I created a Windows App Deployment project. I added to “End” phase of “User Interfaces” editor a custom dialog box with “Launch the application” check box. I also added custom action to “Commit” phase. Unfortunately, custom action runs earlier that the dialog box is presented (during the commit) and not at the end of installation.

I've setup a launch condition that checks for MDAC 2.7 or greater. If not found I use the InstallUrl property to provide a means to install MDAC2.8 off of the install CD. This works fine, except that when MDAC finishes installing, my original setup program doesn't automatically resume. Is there a way to prevent deployment from being canceled when a launch condition fires off a separate installer? I would like to be able to resume the...

I am having a real problem with the Launch conditions in VS .NET and can only come to the conclusion that it is a bug. It states quite emphatically in the MSDN that Launch Conditions WILL be executed in the order added. This statement holds true if every Condition has a InstallURL value set. but not if there is no InstallURL value. For Example : I want to check that W2K exists on the target machine before installing SP4. So, I add a...

I have an older application that was installed via msi approach (setup via InstallShield), however, it has a different product code than the new version (setup via Deployment Project in a VS 2005 solution) I want to install. As a result my newer version does not identify the older version because the product code is different (so it doesn't uninstall it first). What I'd like to do is setup a Launch Condition that first uninstalls my prior...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
