Like the title says, my installation of VC# 2005 Beta 2 doesn't seem to have
a Setup kind of project available. Actually, except for the Screensaver
Starter Kit, it has only four types: Windows app., Console app., Library and
Empty project. I have the .Net Framework SDK 2.0 installed (of course, also
the Framework) but no use.
I was used to this handy kind of project since VS 2003 but now I have to
resort to 3rd party software to deploy...

I'm trying to create the equivalent of a post build event for a
website. I have the "Web Deployment Projects" add-in installed and am
attempting to follow the instructions in the "Using Web Deployment
Projects with Visual Studio 2005" document. In the "Customizing Web
Deployment Projects" section, it gives an example of an "AfterBuild"
target where a directory is created using the $(TargetDir) macro. When
I attempt to use $(TargetDir),...

Hi all,
I have about 10 books about VB.net, but no book explains anything about
setup projects. I need to do some things during setup which are not as
straight-forward as copying some files and adding some icons and some
documentation would come in very handy.
I need to let the user select an extra path (which is not the installation
path) at instyallation time and after some modifications write it into a
registry key.

Hi,
I am having a strange problem right now and I don't even
know how to go about it. Someone please help me! Any
inputs will be highly appreciated.
We have an application that has a VB.Net windows form
front-end and a middle tier that's also in VB.Net. The two
talk to each other via .Net Remoting. If we just run the
windows form exe directly, then the application works just

I have an application that I've used click-once deployment to publish out to
a shared network path. From there I installed the app on a few client
machines, including my own. Since then I published a few updates that were
recognized by the app, and the users installed them, so everyone's on the
most current version. A couple of glitches are now showing up.
1. One of my users received a prompt when she opened up the app that there
is a...

I was told they are included in VB2005 Professional Ed. but not in
free Express Ed.
I wondered if Standard Ed. has it. Is anyone here using Standard Ed.?
Based on Microsoft's Product Feature Comparisons
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/products/compare/
Standard Ed's Deployment Tools is called "ClickOnce", same with the
Express Ed.
Does this mean "Setup and Deployment projects" are not included?

Hey All,
I have created an application and an installer for it using Visual
Studios "Setup and Deployment" project template. It works great (for
the simplicity that I require) except that it doesn't allow multiple
instances.
The user needs to be able to install 1 or more copies of the program on
to their computer (in different directories).

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
