I'd like to formalise slightly the license I release my projects
under. At the moment it's 'free to use, modify, distribute and
relicense'. This is basically fine as I don't want t oprevent people
using my work in commercial settings - but I would like to retain the
right to be identified as the author. I'd also like to prevent people
selling derivative works where my stuff forms the substantial part of
the poduct.
I'd prefer to use an...

Hi.
I''ve written an application and I want to incorporate a license code into
it. I want to do something like this:
1. Included in my software will be an application that when the user runs
it, it returns the serial number of the CPU, or harddrive or something.
2. They send that number to me.
3. Based on that number, i create a license code from that, and send it
to them.
4. They enter the code into a file.

I need advice on how to best to protect software with licenses.
We are developing a windows application that people can purchase and
download off the net, but the software needs to be protected by licensing.
The software is being written in vb.net v1.1.
If anyone knows any beeter places to post this message, please let me know.
Many thanks

Hi,
I have spent the last couple of days researching this issue. And I have
also spent time thinking about what is needed.
I am distributing my software as shareware. When a customer orders a
license, I send him/her a printed license with a license number that
can be used to unlock certain features in the software.
A license number should consist of up to 20 numbers and letters.
Upper/lower case letters should not matter and in order...

Thank you all who have commented on the licensing issues surrounding
The Python Papers.
For the time being, the board and I have decided to continue using the
Creative Commons Noncommercial, Attribution and Share-Alike license as
the standard license for articles contained in The Python Papers.
However, a number of reasonable concerns have been raised by
individuals on this forum, the most important I consider to be:
* Incompatibility...

Hi hi everyone.
We have upgraded our DB2 LUW 8.2.1 which was directly installed from our
DB2 CD's to DB2 LUW 8.2.6 (FP13). (system: HP DL385 (AMD64), single
socket, dual core. 8GB memory. SLES 10. NetApp FAS250 storage array).
This went quite well, but it rendered our permanent (legal) DB2 license
invalid, and I can see of no way to get our environment up and running
with FP13 installed.

This would better be described by 'serialization' than 'interop', but I
didn't find a newsgroup that seems closer on topic.
The problem in a few words: I save data with DataSet.WriteXML, but I get
different data back when I read it later with DataSet.ReadXml.

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me out?
I'm trying to implement an EPP (rfc4934 and rfc4930) client. So far
I've managed to connect and authorise using an X509 Certificate. This

The response shoud be

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
