Hi,
from within an executable I am calling class A located in a dll file which
in turn calls class B located in another dll file. I want class B to be able
to resolve the last entry assembly. By calling the ExecutingAssembly i am
getting Class B assembly, if i call the CallingAssembly i get back the
System.Windows.Forms Assembly and finally if a call the GetEntryAssembly i
get the assembly of the executable.
So how can i get the Class A...

I'm using reflection to dynamically load an assembly and
even though I'm sure the assembly is present, I keep
getting an error telling me the "assembly or one of its
references can't be found".
I do in fact have a reference to the assembly in question
in the project and I even tried declaring it with "using"
at the top of the class file.
Here's the method that fails:

I have a solution containing many usercontrol projects.
When I wish to reference a usercontrol in another project I can select
either the project or the assembly.
Does it make a difference which one I select?
Thanks

Hi,
I was wondering if we could parse or do something in the executable(
whose source language was C). How can I use some scripting language
like perl/python to find out the information about the executable ? Is
it possible ?
Also, how does the compiler add inling to the program ? I know that
whenever it sees"inline" in front of the procedure name, it inlines it.
But if we give the -finline options, it inline all the procedures ? How

I'm trying to figure out what the "Friend" keyword does. I know it
specifies that "elements are accessible from within the same assembly",
but that doesn't help because I don't know what an assembly is. I know
what a project is, and I know what a solution is, but "assembly" isn't
defined in the help file anywhere. Can anyone provide a simple
definition?

Some compilers support __asm{ } statement which allows integration of C
and raw assembly code. A while back I asked a question about such
syntax and was told that __asm is not a part of a C standard. My
question now is:
Is there a chance that such statement will become a part of C standard
in the future? In some cases using asm language is the best way to
acomplish some small task, hence integration of C and asm would greatly
enhence C,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
