I have a been testing the try/catch exception mechanism
(as implemented by DigitalMars) and found that if I
throw an object its dtor gets called 3 times, if I throw
a reference its dtor gets called twice - and so it seems
practical to instantiate an object and throw its address,
and sure enough, its dtor gets called only once.
This is part of the Test class implementation (contains only
one data member: "int n" ):

I'm learning Javascript. I downloaded a script for study. Please tell
me how the variable "loop" can have scope in the first function when
it is altered in the second function? It is not defined in global
space, therefore it is not a global variable, yes? Even if it was
global, how would it get from one function to another? In PHP
variables are copied by value. Are they copied by reference in
Javascript?

Hi,
I am trying to work out why I get UnboundLocalError when accessing an
int from a function where the int is at the global scope, without
explicitly declaring it as global but not when accessing a list in
similar circumstances.
The documentation: http://docs.python.org/ref/naming.html does not give
me enough info to determine why the difference exists as it does not
seem to mention types at all..

I found that I was repeating the same couple of lines over and over in
a function and decided to split those lines into a nested function
after copying one too many minor changes all over. The only problem is
that my little helper function doesn't work! It claims that a variable
doesn't exist. If I move the variable declaration, it finds the
variable, but can't change it. Declaring the variable global in the
nested function doesn't work...

Hello,
I think I've had JavaScript variable scope figured out, can you please
see if I've got it correctly?
* Variables can be local or global
* When a variable is declared outside any function, it is global
regardless of whether it's declared with or without "var"
* When it is declared inside a function, if declared with "var", it's
local, if not, it's global

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
