I am trying to figure out how to create a console window but cannot figure
out how to do this. I know it can be done since the C# and VB console
template projects do this but I see no code on how this is done.
The only thing I can think of is that there is hidden code to spawn cmd.exe?
Then they somehow direct console.read and console.write calls to the spawned
process.
Any thoughts (and some sample code) would be greatly appreciated.

This is long. Bear with me, as I will really go through all the convoluted
stuff that shows there is a problem with streams (at least when used to
redirect stdout).
The basic idea is that my application (VB.NET) will start a process,
redirect its stdout and capture that process' output, displaying it in a
window.
I've written a component for this, and a test application for the component.
It allows me to specify a command to execute,...

Hi All,
When I create a Console app in VS.net and run it, the Console window opens
briefly and closes. If I was running a .bat command file, I'd append a
pause stmt at the end. What can I do in VS? I'm a newbie and keeping that
window open would be helpful for studying.
Thanks in advance,
Richard

Hi,
I'm programming a WinForm application. I would like to
enter commands that will send output that will help me to
locate bugs in the future.
I know that there is a way to send output by using the
Console.Write command. The question is how can I see the
outputs in the client machine ? Is there a specific
programm to do it or Can I use the prompt window ?

I'm writing a console app (in C#) and I want to be able to redirect the
standard input/output streams when it's run at a command prompt. IOW I want
to support the "<" and ">" redirection syntax. The obvious way to do this is
by using the static Console type properties, In and Out. When trying to
debug the app in the IDE however, this doesn't appear to work. I've edited
the project properties and added the necessary text to the "command...

When I spawn a console application from a another
application of mine using
_spawnl(_P_NOWAIT, my_program, ......),
it opens a new console window but when it is finished the
window is automatically closed.
Is there any way I can keep the window open even after the
program terminated (I want to be able check the output) ?
Thank you.

I'm compiling an old C program within Visual Studio to give me the
advantages of debugging within this environment. I'm building it as a
Console application using C++ as the language. It compiles and runs fine,
but if start debugging from within Visual Studio the standard output does
not seem to go anywhere. Standard output within my C program is via printf
commands. I dont want to start embedding Debug or Console statements since I
want...

I am currently working on a program that either works in a GUI or via
console depending on what is passed in arguements at runtime. However,
every time it is ran in GUI it still opens a console window and leaves it
there until the program is closed. Does this happen simply because I am
reading in arguements or could it be because I originally set the solution
up as a console program? If it is because of how I set the solution up is...

Hello!
When you have windows forms you have the same possibility as when you have a
Console application
to use Console.Writeln to write whatever on the screen.
Now to my question:
Is it possible to use Console.Writeln when you have a Webservice. I don't
think it's possible but
just to be sure I ask you?

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
