Uninstallation of VS.NET causing unknown problems

Hi there,

I have a small question regarding the uninstallation of VS.NET 2003/2005
and it's impact on the system. I have an application that functions as
desired on all freshly installed systems that match the correct requirements
for the application. Unfortunately there have been a couple of times where
an "Out Of Memory" exception has been reported when attempting to run the
application on certain systems, the only thing in common with these systems
is the installation and uninstallation of VS.NET 2003/2005.

All exceptions in the application are handled upon entry using our own
custom dialog and this exception is displayed before that is even
initialised which makes me very suspicious of the integrity of the .net
framework, so I have a few questions regarding this,

A) Is there any way to confirm the integrity of the framework?
B) Has anyone else experienced these anomalies?
C) Is there any correct way to get the .NET framework installation
back upto scratch, I'm presuming the following,

1) Uninstall all frameworks, newest to oldest
2) Reinstall all required frameworks, oldest to newest
3) Pray to which ever god you believe in

Thanks loads in advance, I'd love to get around this problem but the
only way I can think of is by freshly installing a system with .NET 2.0 on,
saving the registry, installing VS.NET 2005 then uninstalling it, saving the
registry again and comparing it to the original one and seeing if anything
was removed / changed that shouldn't have been. Even then I can't be sure
that it wasnt related to a file on the local system.

Hmm!

Nick.

If the user has an earlier version of the product and they are installing a new version, ask them if they want to keep the earlier version or not. If they want to remove the earlier version remove it and install the new version and if they dont want to remove it simply install the new version. I am...

Hi, Once in a while my application throws an NullReferenceException at startup, however it appears to be occurring in an unknown module. If I debug it and ask to 'break', then there is no source code available (I am running in Debug mode of course). What could be the cause of this? Can someone shed some light on this matter? Kind regards,

I am new to vb and .net framework. I wonder if I can use vb to creat an application which can install a list of applications from other drives of the machine to my current drive, and uninstall a list of old version of the applications automatically. I don't know what functions I should call in .net library or win32 api. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks Jennifer

I'm receiving an exception when my webmethod exits after opening/closing an Access database. I can reproduce this easily enough by creating a new default ASP .NET Web Service in VS.NET 2003. Adding this code to the default HelloWorld() webmethod will cause the problem. String* sConnection = S"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;User ID=Admin;Data Source=c:\\mydb.mdb";

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
