Hi,
I have read the Microsoft Product Feature Comparisons page many times over
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/products/compare/default.aspx), as well
as Gregory's blog on the subject

When VS2003 is installed :
I can open Form1.cs w/ windows "open with" contextmenu, then it opens the
file w/ notepad & it works fine
but after installing VS2005, "open with" doesnt function correctly.
If I try to open with notepad, it forces an open to VS2005

Hi guys
I'm trying to migrate to VS2005... I've managed to do that, but realised I'd
opened my web projects as file projects, and I'm getting the error about
network BIOS command limit.
Anyway, I decided to have a go at loading them as web projects from our
Win2k3 server. It gets so far and then says "The web server does not appear
to have FrontPage server extensions installed".

Is it me or is the speed of VS2005 actually slower than VS2003?
The startup is pretty bad - even though I changed VS to display an empty
environment. When I create a new form and want to change its size:
while I am resizing, an hour glass comes up for a few seconds.
There a lot of other slowdowns all over the system. It seems like it the
hard drive kicks in really hard.
Now I did have the VS2005 beta installed, but I uninstalled it...

I have 11.5 Gb remaining on the master on an XP Pro SP2 machine with 1.5 Gb
RAM. I keep the OS updated. The paging file has been disabled on the master
and relocated to a slave. Task Manager reports 1 Gb of paging file usage. I
defrag with regularity whether need or not. I've trimmed Visual Effects down
to a minimum.
Still -- consistently -- entering the cursor into the source window of the
VS2005 IDE causes VS2005 to light up the disk...

There appears to be a REALLY annoying bug in VS2005: periodically when you're rebuilding an ASPNET2 website which uses App_Code
stuff the compiler will fail to create the dynamic assembly or not be able to copy it to the bin directory or something.
In my case the error message which always shows up complains about my master page not defining a public property. The funny/sad
thing is that the property is defined, and in most cases I haven't...

Can anyone shed some light on why compiling and running web-apps is so slow
in VS2005. I have a solution with 3 web-apps, 20 or so library projects and
several winforms apps. All in all it totals about 150,000 lines of C#.
I've only just converted this to VS2005 project but am frustrated with the
following:
- VS2005 insists on compiling all projects when I press F5 to run an
application even though no code has changed in the other...

Hi,
We have a c++ web application which is built in VS2002. after buit we port all exe and dll to IIS on other machine its is working fine.
Now we migrated application to VS2005.
The DLL’s and Exe’s (build in VS 2005 environment) are working fine on local Win 2K server, which has VS2005 installed. The .Net Framework 2.0 is available on this machine.

When I installed VS2005 on my own computer I nominated VB as the
default language. I have also worked on VS2005 on another computer
where C# was the default language. But sometimes I want to use C#.
How do I change the IDE to work with C#?
I can see a few options in the Tools/Options menu, but the result is
not the same as it looked on the other computer I worked on. Surely I
don't have to uninstall/reinstall!?

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
