Hello. I am able to succesfully build and install my VB.Net Windows Service,
using the Command Line InstallUtil #EXE PATH#.
However, when I press start in MMC, to start the service, I get this error
message:
Could not start the #SERVICENAME# Service on Local Computer.
The service did not return an error. This could be an internal Windows error
or an internal service error. If the problem persists, contact your system
administrator.

We created a Windows Service with C#. The service will start OK on
computers that are a member of a domain, but when we try to start it on a
server that is configured for a workgroup we get the following error in the
event log:
Event ID: 7001
Description: The {Service Name}service depends on the Net Logon service
which failed to start because of the following error:
The service has returned a service-specific error code.

I have the simple Hello World web service running in debug mode on my
development machine
(XP Pro SP2). I'm using VS2005. I'm able to access it from my machine. When I
try to access it from another machine (also XP pro SP2), using the URL:
"http://nav:24035/WebServ/Service.asmx?op=HelloWorld", I get a "Cannot find
server or DNS Error" error.
There is no firewall on either machine. Windows firewalls are disabled. I'm

Hi,
I just wrote a test Windows Service that creates a text file on startup
(please see my code below). The file is never created.
Protected Overrides Sub OnStart(ByVal args() As String)
Dim swLog As StreamWriter = File.CreateText("C:\myLog.txt")
swLog.WriteLine("My Windows Service has just started.")
swLog.Close() : swLog.Flush()
End Sub

Folks,
I have to design the WSDL files of a bunch of XML Web Services. But,
unfortunately, I am not very keen on writing the WSDL file line by line, and
moreover be aware of the whole standard specification in details. I will be
very happy if there is a visual tool, which can do this for me. Does anyone
know such kind of tool (if it is free, this is going to be awesome)?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,

I have a problem that looks like it has not been discussed before in
these groups.
I have a simple SQLAgent job that runs sp_who (could be anything, but
let's just say sp_who for this example). I have set the jobstep to
write to an output file "T:\out.txt". If the job is owned by an
admin, it runs fine and writes the output file. If it is owned by a
non-admin user, it gets the following error msg:
Warning: cannot write logfile...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
