Multiline comment behavior in VS2005 VB.NET

Hi, wondering if I'm missing something before I log a minor bug to the VS2005
feedback page.
In VB6, you could span multiple lines with comments by using a line
continuation character as in

'this is the beginning of my _
comment which continues down to this line

In VS05, the 2nd line doesn't appear commented unless the apostrophe is
explicitly included.

In other language syntax, there is support for multiline comments. Did they
change this in VS05 that I'm not aware of? Thanks.

You are right, comments cannot continued using '_' in VB.NET. VB does not
support block comments with start/end marks.

That also happened in VB.NET 2002 if I remember correctly, but I am not sure
if it is a bug or a "by design" decission.

Hello, my fellows and me implement a c++ tool that is able to divide blank/tab separated files into <number>, <text>, <c-singlelinecomment> and <multilinecomment>. So far it's not working bad, we have just one problem if I call the a.exe that gcc compiles with the following textfile (./a.exe < test.txt) he does not match the multiline comments correctly. *test.txt contains:

Hi, all, I'm now writing a program to compress JavaScript code. One puzzle is how to write a regular expression to find out and remove all the redundent blank spaces. However, those blank spaces that are in the comments should be kept intact. I've tried to write some Regexs, and I list them here for your information: regex = new Regex(@"/\**?\*/"); // pattern used to match a multiline comment block regex = new Regex(@"//*\n"); //...

Folks, I have a form that has several TextBoxes, some of which have the TextMode set to MultiLine. Each is pre-loaded with data from a database. The user is allowed to modify each entry. The problem is that only the modified data from the SingleLine TextBoxes are returned. The original data are returned for the MultiLine TextBoxes. Also, if the page is sent to the server (for validation, for instance), only the modified data for the...

Hi, I have a filled multiline textbox on the site. I can scroll it with IE and Firefox, but under Opera (tested under 7.54, and Opera 8, under "identify as MSIE" and under Opera identification) , I'm getting a strange behavior: When I try to scroll, the text doesn't move. It only moves to a new position, if I move the scroll marks, and then click on a empty place of the website. There is nothing on the site, just the textbox.

At the risk of flogging a dead horse, I'm wondering why Python doesn't have any multiline comments. One can abuse triple-quotes for that purpose, but that's obviously not what it's for and doesn't nest properly. ML has a very elegant system for nested comments with (* and *). Using an editor to throw #s in front of every line has limitations. Your editor has to support it and you have to know how to use that feature. Not exactly...

Hi, Am starting a new thread as I fear the old thread which more than a week old can go unnoticed. Sorry for the multiple mails. I took the approach of Subclassing ConfigParser to support multiline values without leading white-spaces, but am struct at which position in _read I should modify to accomodate the non-leading whitespace based multiline values.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
