I looked at MSDN and a book and both described the naming convention for
parameters should be camel style.
The book used camel, except for Set (ByVal Value as ...)
There it always used an uppercase V
What is the correct convention for Set?
Anything special if the name is Value.
Thanks 4 1497

There is no correct naming. It simply depends on which naming convention
you are following. If you are using the .NET Framework's naming convention,
the parameter should be named 'Value' (camel case for method parameters).
In VB 2005 the parameter is named 'value' opposed to 'Value' in VS.NET
2002/2003 (unfortunately, because I use my own convention...).

I should have written: "correct by the .NET Framework's naming "convention
rather then: "correct convention"
you said:
"If you are using the .NET Framework's naming convention,
the parameter should be named 'Value' (camel case for method parameters)."
Anyway, my confusion must stem from the definition of camel
I believe "newColorVa lue" is camel.
Shouldn't it be "value" or is one word capitalized?

Yes, that's camel case.
Shouldn't it be "value" or is one word capitalized?
According to the .NET Framework naming guidelines it should read 'value'.
VS 2005 names the parameter 'value' by default.

I'm realizing I didn't frame my question well.
What's ***TOTALLY COMPELLING*** about Ruby over Python? What makes you jump
up in your chair and scream "Wow! Ruby has *that*? That is SO FRICKIN'
COOL!!! ***MAN*** that would save me a buttload of work and make my life
sooooo much easier!"
As opposed to minor differences of this feature here, that feature there.
Variations on style are of no interest to me. I'm coming at this from a...

I saw this code snippet:
sock.listen(20)
for _ in range(20):
newsock, client_addr = sock.accept()
print "Client connected:", client_addr
data = ""
why use _ for this example? Is there any
optimization to be had using it?

Where should I use them?
I am giving you my understandings. Please correct me if I am wrong:
MACRO:
e.g.:#define ref-name 99
The code is substituted by the MACRO ref-name. So no overhead.
Execution is faster. Where will it be stotred?(Is it in bss/stack/?)

Every single time neophytes or converts ask about naming and style
conventions what are they told by the majority consensus? The answer is "do
what you prefer but do so consistently" right? Yes, that's right, that's
exactly what is said. People joining a team of developers are also
encouraged to cooperate with their peers and adopt what has already been
established right? Yes, that's exactly what is encouraged.

Hi,
I've run into a strange problem, but one that seems like it might be
fairly common.
I have a single base class, from which several other classes are derived.
To keep the example simple, the base class is "Animal" and the derived
classes are "Cat," "Dog," and "Horse."
The base class has a pure virtual method:

Hello, World!
Reading this group for some time I came to the conclusion that
people here are split into several fractions regarding size_t,
including, but not limited to,
* size_t is the right thing to use for every var that holds the
number of or size in bytes of things.
* size_t should only be used when dealing with library functions.

I'm totally new to C, so this is a question from a total newbie. I
know most people write the names in C with underscores,
as_in_this_name. But... is it also customary to write them in mixed
case, asWithThisName? Or is it a horrible horrible horrible thing to
do??

I was reading an article regarding .Net arrays and on that article,
the author mentioned something about SZ arrays.
As far as I can tell, SZ arrays are one dimension arrays that are zero
based, am I correct on this? Also, can someone tell me what does “SZ”
stands for?
Thank you.

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
