Hi,
Something I don't understand about a Typed DataSet: When a value in the
DataSet is DBNull, it throws this error: "Cannot get value because it is
DBNull".
But aren't Typed DataSets invented to make life easier, to be able to get to
tge Tables and Values with less code, in less time? But with this thing you
need to add a Try-Catch around every statement when using the value, add for
each value a default value in your DataSet (and...

Hi,
I've got a simple console app that just reads an XML file into a DataSet
then prints out a description of each table in the DataSet, including
column names and row values for each column. I'm getting some strange
results depending the input XML file I use. I was wondering if somebody
could help me understand what is going on or point me to a good reference.
The code for my program looks like this:

Hi,
I've got a DataSet (ds) which was created by a DataAdapter (da) method:
ds.Fill(ds).
This DataSet is passed through various methods (by value). Each method
changes some fields in the DataSet (for converting data in another format).
As this DataSet is _not_ class-wide declarated, each method returns the
changed DataSet and so it is passed through all methods and back to its

Hi,
I need to pass a dataset to another win form along with a SqldataAdapter.
I don't want to recreate the SqlDataAdapter again either. So to pass to
another Win form in my windows form app, do I create the procedure to pass by
ref? Which means I don't need to add ByRef because it is defaulted by ref,
correct? And in the constructor of the win form that gets created. I need to
add in parameters a DataSet and SqlDataAdapter correct? What...

Hi all,
I noticed this strange behavior; I created a new control (example inherits
from textbox) and add a new property, then I bind this new property to a
field in my dataTable in a dataSet. After the binding statement, when I
check for dataset.getchanges ... it alway returns that there is changes
(even the propety just set the value and get the same value to return)... I
have tried to understand what has changed by using the...

Hi
I have a object (classA, marshalbyref) that is passed from the server. I
tried assigning a value to one of the object's property however, the
changes is not reflected.
I tried assigning this object to a variable of the same type and do the
assignment again. This works, but the original object still maintain the
same property value.

Hi,
I have a typed unbound dataset that is passed to a datahandling class to be
filled.
The datahandling class fills it from a sproc using an oledbDataAdapter
(SQLAnywhere database)
The only table in the dataset has two int32 columns.
There is one row of data and as expected, column 0 contains an int and
column 1 contains a null.
I want to update column1.
The following code executes but the row cell remains unchanged.

If you do .NET Remoting and Binary Serilization with DataSet it does not work.
If you set the Serialization type to Binary on DataSet, it does not seralize
it correctly on windows xp. To do this set the serilization to Binary and use
it in remoting on Windows XP.
Is there a way around this?

Hi All
I have written an Windows Service that exposes a Remoting object that
takes a DataSet and fills it up. However when I get the dataset back
on the client it's rows are empty. When I log the process I can see a
filled dataset on the server.
This is what I'm doing in the client code, where dSet is an empty
initialized DataSet being sent to the server.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
