UserControl - Problem with "popup" that would be outside "container"

I have a problem, best explained by example.

I have a usercontrol which contains a text box and a button. If the button
is clicked then the calender control is displayed as a "popup" so that a
date can be chosen. This replicates the date-picker control except that it
has other checks in it (my user control also has the ability for other data
types with other "popups" for validation)....

The problem is that if the user control is at the bottom of a panel or
groupbox etc, then the calender control will be cut off by the bottom of the
panel or groupbox even though there is plenty of room to display it on the
form.

How can I make the popup "overflow" the bottom of the containing control
(panel/groupbox)?

Also, if the usercontrol is at the bottom of the form as a whole, is there
any easy way to know that there isn't room to display the popup below the
text box and pop it up on top instead?

Regards
Simon

Hello, everyone. I've been trying to get a popup editor going for a control I'm working on. I don't mean a design-time editor for properties, though that would be a good example of what I'm aiming for. I need a control or form to pop up over the form, with input focus, without allowing the parent control to appear unfocused. It would be...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
