is it bad practice for vendors to supply a machine level
security.config file in an msi package with their installations to
chnage security settings. Would i be right in thinking that this msi (
generated by the .net config tool) will overwrite any other settings
previously defined...and should be controlled centrally.
i have heard it is possible control config settngs via group policy.
id this through a policy object or is it just...

I know this isn´t spot on for this group, but the problem relates to an
asp.net project i am working on.
I am trying to develop an windows forms control to be used in IE in an
intranet solution. The
control lists documents attached to an specific item. The control supports
drag/drop and automatically uploads and downloads via an web service to an

I have a VB windows forms application that accesses a Microsoft Access
database that has been secured using user-level security. The
application is being deployed using No-Touch deployment. The objective
in utilizing this new deployment method is to reduce the maintenance
overhead as well as making it easier for my users to setup and run the
application initially. I have VS 2002, Windows XP, Access XP(2000
format).
He is my problem....

Trying to get No Touch Deployment working, which is having a .net exe application on a webserver. My Asp.net page links to the .exe and when the user clicks on the hyper link, the exe is downloaded and executed locally. I've got the application downloading , but now I'm having trouble executing it (which should be done automatically).
If I have .net framework v1.0 installed on my machine, it works fine.
If I have .net framework v1.0 and...

I have walked through all of the WSE 3 Hands on Labs and got everything
working fine. When I create my own certificate and install it in the stores,
my client application that is consuming my WSE enabled webservice receives
the following error (noted at the very bottom of this post).
My objective here is to create and secure a service application (webservice)
using an x509 test cert that requests a client certificate; and to create a...

Hi All,
We are doing development using remote login to distanced development
machines. As our profile is local, when we want to do build in the remote
machine, it takes long time. So in .NET 1.1 we used to switch off the CAS and
do the build. It used to be very much faster. Now, we've upgraded our systems
to .NET 2.0. When we try to build with CAS off, the build is breaking. I've
captured two errors,

Hi,
I am using WSE to implement security using x509 certificates. This
works when I use a windows client but throws an exception when I use
NUnit.
My Code looks as follows :
UsernameToken myCurrentToken = new UsernameToken("xxxx", "YYY",
PasswordOption.SendPlainText);
MyServicesWse adminServices = new MyServicesWse();

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
