VB.NET 2005 and ToolStripMenuIt em

Hi,

I've create an application which includes :
- a toolstrip
- a toolstripmenu
- several toolstripmenuit em(s)

so, now i have a menu like that :

-File
|
|-New
|-Open
|-Save
....

With normal menu control, each submenuitem has an index value that allows me to know exactly which one has be clicked.
But i do not see any index property in the ToolStripMenuIt em control...

So, how can i detect which subitem has been clicked ?

thanks a lot,
Maileen

Hi,

Each menu item will have its own click event.

Each menu item has a name property, rather than an index number.
They can be referenced that way.

Each menu item is an object in its own right, with its own events, methods,
properties, etc.

I have a menu structure that formats that left aligns string1 and right aligns string2. To do this, I use the OwnerDraw, Popup, DrawItem and MeasureItem properties or events of the MenuItem class. None of these exist for the ToolStripMenuItem. Can someone point me to a Web reference that explains how to emulate the functionality of these properties and events in the ToolStripMenuItem. I can't find any useful references for this task. ...

Ok.. I have a form with lots of stuff on it; a tool strip panel, menu strip, data binding elements (dataset, binding source, table adapter), tab control with 7 tab pages, each page contains a picture box, lots of text boxes (for input).. you get the idea. All of a sudden everything on the form has disappeared, it looks like a blank, newly created form. I can still get to the properties of every item on the form using the drop-down box in...

I have a ToolStrip item which fires a function when clicked. The function will run to completion without any problems (if I set a breakpoint at the closing brace, no exception has been fired), but once it returns, I get a TargetParameterCountException in mscorlib. I cannot for the life of me figure out why and I'm hoping someone here might be able to help. Here is the relevant code (although I don't think it has any effect)

I need to show a custom control in the DropDown of a Windows.Forms.ToolStripMenuItem (e.g., similar to the Font Color menu item in Word except that the control is specific to my application). I tried adding the control to Windows.Forms.ToolStripMenuItem.DropDown.Controls but doing so raises a NotSupported exception. Are there any standard ToolStripItems and/or techniques for implementing this type of functionality? Thanks for any help!...

My application has a standard MenuStrip on top of the window and a ContextMenuStrip that pops up when the user clicks the right mouse button. I have defined a ToolStripMenuItem that I want to appear on both the MenuStrip and the ContextMenuStrip, but any attempt to do so makes the ToolStripMenuItem silently disappear from the other menu. See this little program:

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
