beta2 vs rc

Hi

How is vs 2005 rc compared to beta2, stability wise? Is it worth moving from
beta2 to rc or should I wait for final? I just want to start developing a
stable (enough) db app as soon as possible.

Thanks

It is always wise to wait for final release!

For me, I even wait @least a year before I convert.

The RC builds are more stable and complete when compared to the beta builds.
I would upgrade but the final version is not far off.

Suggest to wait for the final release then wait some more for the SP1 release.

That can take long, I never saw a SP for the version VS 2003 while there is
one for the version VS 2002 however that is a very current one.

Hi John,

I would use it inside a virtual pc such as VMWare or VirtualPC.
RC certainly has an important difference compared to Beta 2: the way
nullables are handled.

I don't think many really care about the VS service packs per se, rather
it's the framework service packs that matter. And the framework 1.0
service pack came out fairly quickly IIRC.

That should not be a reason not to start with the next version if you are
currently using the Beta Version as is the topic of this message thread. The
question is if it is worth to skip the RC1. (I am in doubt therefore I don't
answer this concrete).

The Release Candidate should be stable, much more than the Beta, by
definition of both terms. In my area of experience (add-ins), the Beta 2 had
critical bugs, but the CTPs after Beta 2 already took care of them and
currently the August CTP has only minor issues. Assuming the same progress
on other areas, the release candidate should be fine, but the final release
will be available around Nov 7, so it's up to you if you can wait.

Hi, I'm tring to *test* php5 beta2 as module with Apache 2.0.48 and win2k (I know, I'm nuts :o) First, there is no php5apache2.dll in the beta2 package but a php4apache2.dll (php.net doc mention php5apache2.dll at http://www.php.net/manual/en/install.apache2.php) I usually copy php4apache2.dll and php4ts.dll in the Apache2/modules/

I just upgraded to the latest 2.0 Beta2. Created a web app - created a virtual folder in IIS, made it use .net 2.0 scriptmaps. However I cannot get the web based admin to work. When I type in: http://localhost/MySite/webadmin.axd I get 404 - this url was not found. I checked that there is a map defined for .axd extension (mapped to aspnet_isapi.dll) in my application's property in IIS.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
