Build files for Windows app

Roy
Hi all,

I've modified few files and need to send them to a person who is testing the
application. Beside the modified files what files I need to send to him,
since he doesn't have .NET Studio to build the application.
Thanks in advance,

Roy

Roy,

Just deploy it using the setup and deployment project.

You add that to your project an setup and deployment project and choose for
that the setup wizard.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...etupWizard.asp

With some luck you are than ready and need only the builded msi file.

Although the shortcuts are than not set, so that you have to do in the
deployment project or when it is just for testing do that from the library
where the exe is.

Setting those shortcuts is rightclicking in the projectfolder make them and
than drag them to the start and desktop folders left.

I hope this helps,

Cor

I think you can just send him a copy of the files in the bin directory and he
can copy them to any directory and run the .exe. That is unless you have
strongly typed and registered dll's then I am not sure how to do this.

Out of no where I'm starting to get these problems and my Deployment projects won't build anymore. Does anyone have any idea what's causing this? I've tried copying these files from another VS.NET 2003 machine, but it doesn't look like it's working. The only latest change I've made to my machine was the Windows Update as of Feb. 8th, 2005. I notcied it included the .NET 1.1 SP1 and I don't know if this might have any relation? ERROR...

Hello, python24.dll is much bigger than python23.dll. This was discussed already on the newsgroup, see the thread starting here: http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-list/2004-July/229096.html I don't think I fully understand the reason why additional .pyd modules were built into the .dll. OTOH, this does not help anyone, since: - Normal users don't care about the size of the pythonXX.dll, or the number of

I'm using Visual Studio 2005 RC and cannot figure out how to produce a "release" build. Am I doing something wrong? I'm wondering if perhaps MS locked out the ability to produce a release build when using the RC since it does not have a go-live license? Or maybe I'm just doing something wrong. I do not want to go live with a release build. Rather I just want to test locally to see if there is a performance difference and also to...

hi all! i just built revision 41809 under winxp using a rather uncommon setup (at least i think so). since i have no visual studio here, i only used freely available tools: cygwin to get the source, the microsoft compiler/linker and NAnt (nant.sf.net) as the build tool to interpret the .vcproj-files (which may be the uncommon part). as far as i understand this setup is not supported in any way, but i noticed two problems, that could...

I am trying to obtain more debugging information for an issue I reported (ref. Bug #37185 <http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=37185&edit=2>). Unfortunately, I do not have access to the now-ancient Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0, which is why I cannot use the pre-built debug sysbol files for debugging. So it appears I must build PHP. I grabbed build php5.1-200605011630 earlier today, but am having build problems. My environment is Windows XP SP2,...

Hello, I'm trying to build an executable with py2exe, but unfortunately the version I have is 0.6.6, which has a rather annoying bug that doesn't let you rename the executable file if you bundle everything in a single executable. It seems fairly unacceptable to tell our customers that they can't rename a file we send them. I hear this problem is fixed in 0.6.8, but unfortunately there's no standalone installer for py2exe 0.6.8 - the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
